Default PRC Stage 1 LS6 Heads

How much of an improvement are these over stock LS6 heads? I'm trying to figure out if its worth the money, since I'm swapping the cam anyway, may as well do the heads too.

They're a big improvement. Know a few people that have ran them paired with the right cam and pull 450rwhp+....myself included.

Heard the same as '02 WS6 above. I went with the 2.5 heads myself and getting everything put together now. I expect to see good numbers with my new heads and cam.

I see so many people talking about the prc heads, but can't find a lot of dyno and the real test track times vs weight of car. The dyno not so big due to one dyno having my old set up at 423hp and another dyno had th same set up at 395hp. I would like to see if they really make power by running down the track mph vs weight of car..

Have you run both?

OP: Typically we see about 40hp/30ftlbs from the addition of our Stage 1 LS6's over the stock LS1 heads. They represent a great bang for your buck cylinder head and have been proven time and time again on the rollers and at the races!

Before you buy your cam, get the heads. Then you can have a cam spec'd to your heads. I've heard many good things about Advanced Induction, and I've heard of gains of 55+ rwhp with their 243's worked over. I've considered myself finding a set of 243's used, buy them, then send em in to AI and have a cam spec'd. However, I think I'll likely end up going with a PRC heads/cam package from TSP. I've heard great things about their 5.3L stage 2.5's, so that is the package I'll probably go with.

What kind of gains would you anticipate from the addition of Stage 2.5 5.3L heads over the stock LS1 heads?

Thanks Matt, couple more questions before I pull the trigger on the order button.

I have an 04 Z06 with a build date of 08/03. Will it have the head bolts that are the same length, or the varying length head bolts?

Also are LS6 and LS1 heads the same? If theyre that big of an improvement over stock LS1 heads, and LS1/LS6 has different heads, what kind of improvement are they over the LS6 stock heads?

LS6 and LS1 heads are not the same. LS1 heads of that year are casting # 241. LS6 heads are casting # 243. Aside from the different chamber and intake/exhaust runners, the springs/valves are also different. Out of the box, AND after porting, the LS6 head is a better flowing head.

With that build date, I'd expect it to have the long/short early style bolts!

Thanks Matt, do you have any rough idea what these heads would gain over the stock LS6 heads? Also if I call you guys up, can you put together a custom order with both sets of bolts, just in case?

Over stock LS6 heads, the Stage 1's are going to be worth about 25-30hp or so. Of course, give me a call!

Do the 317 heads from the LQ4 flow the same as the LS6 heads? I understand the combustion chamber is larger, but flow wise, are they the same? I have just heard that besides the combustion chamber, they are the same casting...

I am about to go look on the texas speed web site to see if I can find prices for porting. If the info is not there, could you post up a link so I can see the pricing somewhere?
