This...
Really though, a well thought out H/C/I setup with maybe a 50 shot should get you there. If you dont want to use spray maybe a 383 in place of spray? But I agree it wont be cheap.... And idk how well a stock drivetrain will hold that power.....Jus sayin...

its doable if you're willing to go stroker. 383CI, trickflow as-cast 220cc or 215cc heads and a healthy 23X/24X cam with a FAST intake and some 42# injectors will get you there.

Will my rear end and tranny even be able to handle the increase in power or will i end up blowing them apart? Thank you for all the input though guys

450 is the lowest number that you could probably get to without upping your displacement, but even so you're gonna need some real expensive heads, good intake and a good specced valvetrain. Don't take this the wrong way, but don't expect it to be cheap or you'll learn the hard way like I did.
*Not going to "rip" apart your differential, but it'll definately be a lot harder on it than it originally was. Especially if you're beating the hell out of it and/or launching at a couple thousand RPM.

good question! i would like to know what it takes to hit 400 hp (in honor of the Pontiac 400 block) to the wheels with an 01 T/A non WS6 with LS1 and 6speed Tremec T-56. i currently have the longtube headers, K&N air intake system, electronic cutouts. on the last dyno day, it hit just a tick under 325. any good suggestions?

chrs1313 has tried and has come soooo close ,and he knows what he is doing.listen to him for your best chance at achieving close to those numbers.a stock ls1 short bock ,the best thought out top end.the right converter and rear end ,and every other trick in the book.

Yeah, but at that point it might just be easier(economically) to put in a 383 assembly with a FAST 102/cam and call it a day.

I asked the same question a little while back. I got a little more positive help though. Here's the link:

A really well thought heads, cam, intake, and exhaust build can get you to 500rwhp with stock displacement and no power adders, but its not gonna be cheap. And as if all that wasn't expensive enough, there are a lot of supporting mods needed to handle that much power or you are going to start breaking things. The amount of people making that amount of power with stock cubes naturally aspirated is extremely small, and if you ask them I am positive they would say take easy and least expensive out of the equation.
But if you are looking for the easiest and least expensive way to get there, nitrous is always an option. If you take the time to research, you can put together a nice safe setup for less than a grand probably. I have never had the ***** to do it to my car, but I know people who swear by it. And i have ran into people who have way less money in their cars and are just as fast. It's enough to **** you off.............lol
