Default No oil getting to my rockers but pressure on the gasuge

I just recently had to pull my LQ4 out of my car to replace two pistons. If it matters it is a stock LQ4 other than ARP head & rod bolts with a MP T-76 turbo. The two clinders showed no sign of damage so I re-honed those two and replaced with stock pistons.

While in there I upgraded to Patriot Gold springs and the TRW push rods that the recommended. Other than that I reassembled it just as I took it apart. I have an electric autometer oil pressure gauge that is tapped into the fitting right by the oil filter. At idle I'm getting about 40psi on the gauge.

Could the problem be the dual spring doing something to the stock lifters? I'm lost so please help before I F*ck something up.

Are the push rods drilled properly? Put the old oush rods back in and try it or compare them at least. As the push rod moves up the hole in the pushrod gets covered over by the rocker so no oil comes out the rocker. As it moves back down the hole is opened in the rocker and oil comes out. I have to think there is some kind of miss match in the oiling holes???? or the geometry is that far off. How long did you run it this way?

Hmmm, okay I didn't consider any of that to be honest. The only difference between the two I think is no ball on the ends and thicker walls. The lenght is supposed to be the same but I will certainly check.

ok there you go there has to be a major diffrence in the oiling hole. The geomety is way off and holes are not lining up.

Is it possible you put too long a pushrod in?

I guess anything is possible at this point. According the part number they are 7.4 inches long I believe. I am going to go back over them tomorrow just be sure.

Not sure I follow, the new pushrods are multi-piece?

New pushrods should be cleaned before installing, including the oil hole. Did you clean them out?

Can you put your pressure gauge in the port at the top of the block behind the intake? Might have something blocking your oil passage st the barbell in the back of the block

Are you SURE there's no oil getting there?

I've never really seen a LOT of oil puddled up in a cylinder head...and even at idle with a valve cover off (if you can still plug in your coils...be careful) you usually don't see much oil flow up there at all until you rev the engine up a bit...at which point it will make a mess.

The new ones are one piece (never heard of multi piece) they just don't have the little ***** on each end like the stock ones.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-21407400/
I didn't clean them I just looked through them for blockage.

That is where my turbo is being fed but my next step is to see how much flow I get out of there. I will keep you posted.

Anything is possible but I never touched any of that. All I took apart was one head and the two damaged piston/rod assemblies.

You might be correct but I never remembered my valve train being noisy even when I first got it from the junk yard. This time when I fired it up it sounded like a little sewing maching and that's what made me check. I pulled one valve cover and it is still dry. Maybe it needs more time to prime itself but remember this isn't a fresh engine.

It could just be the dual springs causing the sewing machine noise.

No when I pulled the valve covers it was dry as a bone. I didn't have this problem before.

Thanks for that read. I took a deep breath and reved it little bit and I started to see oil so I think I'm good now. It was just the combo of hearing the valves and not seeing any oil at idle that had me worried.
