Default GM Hot Cam

What do you guys think about the GM Hot cam kit, I am on the fence about it, some say its great while others say it is terrible. Anyone ever had a hot cam and what did you think of it.

Really small. Are you auto or 6-speed. Most peolple wouldn't do it because it isn't worth the money

I'm an auto, that's the one thing I was worried about, the cam being so small it wouldn't perform as well as some others for around the same price.

You need a stall with a cam. atleast a 2800. Cam without a stall is pretty much pointless imo

It will wear the brakes out faster and with the stock stall the car will not be in it's powerband every shift and it will bog and be slow as stock. Ask me how I know. I had a hotcammed lt1 with stock stall when I was younger and stupid. Didn't have any gains at all tell after 100mph. I knocked off .6 tenths with my stall with improvement left in my 60ft on my current car. Do that with a cam

I am installing a stall when I swap in whichever cam I decide to buy, and yes it is my daily driver until winter comes.

If you plan on going with a 228 or smaller of recommend a 3,600 stall, if you go any larger than a 228 cam is recommend a higher than 3,600 stall...plus you need to get a tranny cooler when you run a stall.

I ran a 220/224 with a 2,800 stall for awhile, then went to a 3,800 stall and it made a world of difference....I'd even recommend a 3,600 with a stock cam.

Just because you daily drive it, don't be afraid of going with a big stall. Now I daily drive mine with a 4,000

There are better, but I have enjoyed mine for many years. I do not go to the track often, and it is fine for my uses.

I have a hotcam. It does fine for what it is. 3380 raceweight M6 4.56 gears slicks= 11.70 at 115 hitting limiter because its not set high enough. My new EPS cam also came in yesterday and recommend calling Geoff at eps he was very helpfull and could get you what you need and make more power than the hotcam.

I had a hotcam before my 228r. Both on a 3600 stall and to me there is no comparison. Not only does the 228 make more power but has been alot less trouble getting to idle and overall driveability issues. Just my .02
