228r or Torquer 2 cam?
- ls6 intake
- edelbrock headers
- gutted cats
- 853 heads (stock)
- magnaflow catback
- slp lid with k&n
- p/p throttle body
- free ram air
My question is which cam would work best? And which LSA is the most recommended? I don't want to end up getting the 228r and regretting wishing i'd gone bigger but I also want to lay down the most power on a DD car. I can't afford heads right now, those are next years tax return, but which cam should I get at this point? And what kinda numbers could I possibly see with each? Thanks guys,

No personal experience, but a friend went from a V2 to a V3 and he and I both noticed / felt a difference. Valvesprings shouldn't scare you at this point anyways.

EDIT: You have, from what I can see, everything minus push rods and springs. Why not?
You can get by with the 3.42's for now. I'd go 4.11 with even the V2 down the road though.
Then again, some keep the 3.42's and have no issues.

When you do the heads plan on a new clutch too.
Like BrntWS6 said, your neighbors will definately know the weak little hampster under the hood hit puberty, but it won't be unbearable, since you have one of the quietest catbacks as it is.
The Tick master is great. The LS7 clutch gets iffy when you start putting down some power, even mild bolt on power. Especially if you are planning to do heads.
so more people are saying the torquer v2... I do plan to do some bamf heads just next year sometime... so can someone give a reason on why one>the other? In my opinion, I rather would go smaller and if that didn't satisfy me, I could go bigger down the line. The 228r was considered a big cam years ago and it's still a good proven cam with a great powerband. Now with all the bigger cams coming out, people think of the 228r on the smaller side. With a good set of heads you would be surprised at what it will do.
And cams aren't that expensive. If you decided the 228r wasn't enough, you could always sell it here on the trader and use that money towards a bigger cam like the V2.
