5.3 heads or 243 heads
My original plan was 2 build a lm7 block since they were so cheap. Came up on a deal for a ls6 block so couldn't pass it up. So I traded my block for a ls6 block and kept the 5.3 heads. Now I want 2 do a h/c build with a 4k stall. Would it be worth it 2 sell these and get the 243 heads. Or a better questions what would be the gains? Or should I just get these heads worked on 2 raise the cr.

i kno stock for stock it's obvious the 243 heads are better. i'm saying instead of spending the money on the 243 heads would it be worth it to get the 5.3 heads worked on. would i get better gains from doin this or goin with the stock 243's. this is a budget build so not looking to more than a couple hundred. how much do our sponsors charge to get these worked on? and chrs1313 i might pick u up on that if i do decide to sell this.

Sell those parts and along with the money u plan on spending on the heads. Find u a good use ly6 or lq4 6.0
Even a newer 5.3, that alredy comes equipped with 243heads stock
05+ 4.8/5.3 truck engines came with 243/799 heads.
799/243 same heads. Diff casting no.
Prolly get a complete 4.8/5.3 engine with 243/799 heads for 500-800$ range if u, look for it

Yes..exactly.... there are 2 government trucks at my office and they both have 5.3l iron blocks WITH 799 heads on them. By bosses avalance also has the same setup. All you gotta do is look around for a 2007/08 and newer 5.3l LM7 and probably other versions. Grab one that isnt running for less than what you could find heads for!

I just found out today that even some late model 4.8L have #243's on them. There is a core longblock in our shop at the dealership that was replaced under warranty for low oil pressure. I checked the casting numbers today. The heads are original to the engine/truck I am sure.

Dont forget...the 799 head is the same head as the 243, just cast by a different vendor!
