Default Corvette oil pan on F-body

What would have to be modified to make it fit? Once modified, would there be any gain? I am under the impression that the Corvette oil pan is "shorter" (more ground clearance) than the f-body.

You need to do what ever you can to get the oil sump away from the spining crank.so putting a shorter oil pan on would be no good unless you can blow out the sides of the pan and make it fatter.

I think what is being said is you have to keep the oil away from the crank. That being said I would think a vette pan would work. But I doubt it will with the stock k-member. Maybe it would fit with an after market one. I would think it will bolt right up since the blocks are the same.

So, I guess the real question should be what benefit is there of going to a different oil pan. As for ground clearance you won't get any with that stock k-member.

the Z06 oil pan holds pressure better in corners and hard acceleration... wasnt a prayer of making it fit on my car though so I put my stock oil pan on with my LS6... might work with your BMR though?

I almost did but then was smart enough to go out and LOOK at the car. I noticed that the f-body oil pan is notched to fit AROUND the K-member......looks close even on the BMR.

Good luck fitting it. That's the reason why we didn't get the vette oil pan, cuz it don't fit

sure.....give me some measurements:

- from the block rail (where the pan mounts on the block) down to the bottom of the front
- how far from the front to the point where the rear part (sump) starts (sloped down)
- how wide the "wings" are

a picture would be nice too
