Lightbulb Intake bolts

I want to drill and tap the 10 M6x1 intake manifold threads in heads to m8 with the heads on. These do not seem like blind holes, can someone tell me where they go if anywhere, ie into the Block, oil, water galleys Ect. Reason why I shouldn't do this? 04 Holden GTO motor, install edelbrock duel plane rpm performer with 600cfm carb, t56,& 3.73 10 bolt posi. In a 99 S10.

It can't yet but it will, if the cal tracks will hold the tires down! Really light in the back end. Still frame off though, and very slowly gettn back together. Looks mean as a roller!

I thought that would be the first reply! Your late. Anyway looks like you have installed a edelbrock. Didn't you find the supplied bolts and the holes in the manifold a bt loose? No, a lot. I have ordered both 6mm &8mm sst flange bolts for the install. With the 6 mm how do you align the manifold with all the slop in the holes? Guess? The efi had brass bush at each end which aligned the manifold the performer does not. The bolts supplied by edelbrock with washers just barely cover the holes. I'm looking for form, fit, and function. What is your experience with the install of the victor?

The bolts are scary (and need bigger washers), but if you torque them carefully there'll be no problem. I know I went around mine in the given pattern at least 3x's at each torque step (I went in 3 steps) before they all stopped turning, then I'd move up to the next torque value. Personally, I just wiggled the manifold into a "best fit" position and bolted it down. Keep in mind, once you "oversize" the threads in the heads, you can't turn back and no one else will have a use for those heads...

If you tap the holes without removing the heads, the chips go straight onto the lifters. Pull the heads first.

There's the answer I was needing! Thanks guys! I'll go with the 6mm and I do belive I'll fab some bushings to install into the manifold to help it line up and get a better fit on the bolt.

I think I'd rather put sleeves around the m6 bolts instead of drilling and tapping the heads.
