How do you like their cams? Im looking at either the F11 or F13 on a 114 for my 98 A4 Vert

Gonna need a nice converter to mate up with that cam. Do some searching, lots of info on Futral's stuff.

I had an F-4 and it ran 11.9 @ 115 in an otherwise stock 98 LS1 with a Yank SS3600 and 3.73's with LT headers, orp, and SLP 2OTL

F11: 228"/230" .576"/.595" 2200-6600 RPM
F13: 230"/232" .595"/.585" 2500-6800 RPM

either on 112 or 114...

Hmmm. Is your 98 otherwise stock as it says in your sig? As above, you would want a stall. But you might also want a lot of other things... Have you also considered the RPM range of the cams you are proposing and how high you are willing to shift the stock rod bolts and 4L60E?

Futral = Cam Motion

Awesome cams. 7 years ago I made 460rwhp with a Futral FM13 and TEA Stg 1.5's that were hand finished.

Yes i have considered all of those things. My friend ran an F13 in his 98 with no issues. As far as a stall im going with an SS 4000, keeping stock gearing.

I've run cams from mti,Texas speed, thunder, SOS, and futral...

all of my best cams have been from Futral...

consider letting him make you a custom grind to fit what you need it to do... you will be much happier than with just an off the shelf grind...

I'm a Big Custom Grind from Futral

Im really not looking for anything radical. I drive about 40 miles a day and just need something that wont murder my bottom end and is driveable. Im leaning towards the F13 because its not much bigger and cant find a bad thing about it. But what LSA?

All I was getting at is that the peak power and subsequently shift points should ideally be a bit above the stock limit, and a stock 4L60E doesn't really like RPMs above 6000, and the pre-01 rod bolts aren't really the best choice if you will be spinning over 6200. So if you keep the stock shift points you will leave power on the table, and might as well have picked a cam optimized for a lower power peak. Of course you could go ahead and shift at 6600RPM and take your chances.

Ill get the 4L60 taken care of, we have a good builder out here. Will shift around 6400, but will rarely be that high if that makes sense

Sure. In that case the F11-114 would be my choice out of those options. Were you going LT's or keeping manifolds though? The F11-114 would have overlap of +1* at .050" but if you were keeping manifolds you would want some negative overlap, like -5* or so.

I'd go with the 112 LSA, or better yet, see if he can get it ground on a 111 or 110 LSA. It will chop like a son of a bitch and give you more of the low end torque.

um.. no...
going with a lower LSA will narrow your powerband...and make it more peaky with typically a slightly higher peak HP/TQ up top..
going with a Wider LSA will in general make your powerband Wider as well and will typically net a slightly less peak HP/TQ with a flatter curve
if you want to lower the powerband you advance the cam...meaning 112 LSA with a 108 ICL(112+4) or if you want to raise the powerband you retard it..meaning 112-2 or 112-4)

Most people dont want to raise their peak HP RPM... but it can be very beneficial in an all out race car and it can create some PTV clearance on an extreme cam...

Take the Cam exactly as it is, or ask Allan to make you a Custom Grind to suit your needs

I ran the F11 for 3 years then had Allan spec a custom cam for me once I stoked and forged it. Great guys and cams.

Loved my f13 but if your talking off the shelf cams take a look at the torquer v3. My car picked up almost 20rwhp just by swapping to a v3.
