Question Ported 241 or Stock 243

Im getting heads soon for my ss and i cant decide which ones i should get. Im on a budget right now so I can either get a pair of ported 241 heads or just stock 243 heads, but im not sure because i dont know what goes best with my cam. My mods are in my sig. Any help or advise is appreciated.

If I HAD to choose between those two exactly, ported 241s. But, preferably, I would save to send the 243s off to get ported.

I would go with the 243s, better resale value, plus if you wanna spend the money down the road ported 243s will outflow ported 241s.

Are the 241's CNC'd?? If not, then get the 243's. Hand porting is too easy to butcher unless you got a real pro who did them.

An A.I. CNC ported 241 will make a lot more power than a stock 243, but that's A.I.'s work. Not everybody is created equal in the world of porting.

FWIW, I've picked up 40rwhp on a cam only car with A.I.'s new 241 program. You'll gain 12-18hp with stock 243's.

X2

When I voted for ported 241s, I wasn't voting for some average joe who thinks he knows how to port. I mean quality port work. They will outperform stock 243s. People seem to think ported 241s are worthless.

I am sending my 241s to AI very soon for their HCR219 port. 40-55rwhp is what the claim can be gained. And 450-480rwhp with a 23x - 24x cam. That's pretty impressive for a budget build imo I will keep everyone posted.

For everything about 2k....head and manifold port work and custom cam. In my opinion if I gain what they say its well worth it and a great budget build.

Any 241 ported properly will outflow stock 243s. I picked up 51 cfm at peak flow when I had my 241s ported in 2000. MTIs will definately be better than stock 243s.

I will pay for the better heads. But not gonna pay for "ported" heads I've seen come from shops. I rather take a stock 241 over some of the bs lvl (x) 243 heads I've seen before.
