WTF!!! Car fouled out spark plugs right after H/C install
I just put a set of S2 heads and a 224/228 cam in my car and now the POS won't start! I pulled a plug and its soaked in what looks to be gas. Is this due to the fact I have open headers and TR6 plug or what else could this be? I begaining to think I should have sold this POS **** and bought another bike and went just as fast if not faster. I dunno I have put a MMS motor in my friends 98Z and helped my father with heads on his vette. Niether had any problems and now my own is one big problem. Any ideas???

First of all, r u sure you installed the cam right???? If not, did you make sure you plugged in your coil packs. Just go through everything again and make sure everything is connected.
I guess the only other thing to check would be to make sure that the valves are closing all the way. If you installed all of this stuff and didn't check the pushrod length, you could be in for a long night.
I would put a compression guage on it and crank it over a few times.

Do you have an adjustable timing chain by chance?
You may want to make sure the dot on the crank sprag is in the correct location since there is one dot on the gear, and another dot out on the forwardmost face.
If you do have an adj. timing set, the dot on the gear tooth corresponds to the dot on the cam gear. The other dot on the outer flange corresponds to TDC and should be installed in line with the keyway....
Maybe this is your problem...?

Yes Im sure the cam is in right and the coilpacks are plugged in. The thing ran, hell I drove it to work one day with open headers. I dunno what the deal is I think I will go do a compression test on it and see. Anymore I really don't care, Im burned out on working on this damn car. I fought a bad connector to my new pump for over 3 days. This is crazy. I work on my friends and dads car and have no problems what so ever but when its my own, everything that can go wrong does and then some. Im seriously thinking about letting it sit and just buying another cafe bike. I don't have time to be working on this POS all of the time.

On a couple of the head swaps I've done, some antifreeze has gotten down in the headers or some that was in the cylinders blew down the header on the first start up and has killed O2 sensors. The car was dumping loads of fuel in with the bad O2. Have you checked to see if the car has any codes? I'd put a new set of plugs in it and try to start it again and check from there. Btw.. I run TR6's in my car without a problem, just leave the gap on them alone, don't try to open it up any.. that will kill them.

If you're that burned out, just walk away for a couple of days... you won't be thinking clearly. Hey, don't forget- this kind of stuff happens to all of us at times.
When you've cleared your head then go back to it.

i had the exact same thing happen to me. I changed the plugs and it started right up this is before your tune correct? Mine was running supper rich before the tune and I fouled out my plugs now 3 months later after the tune and the new plugs havent had any more problems

Sounds like that is my problem. I have one more question though. I put a compression gauge on 2 cylinders and only got 155 and 160 psi, This was with the throttle body closed and I just read that can make a dif but how much?

I throw several front o2 codes since my LGM header install & my car runs very rich but it runs fine.
0135 Heated o2 heater circuit bank one sensor one
0155 Heated 02 heater circuit bank two sensor one
0133 Slow response bank 1 sensor 1
1153 Insufficient switching bank 1 sensor 1
1133 Insufficient switching bank 2 sensor 1
I am going to replace the sensors (the rears I moved up front).

Umm, aren't O2's only used when the car goes into open loop ?
When started it's in closed loop operation until it warms up, I don't think bad O2s would keep it from starting, correct ?
Looks like you've got gas (and presumably air), so I'd look for spark... Are you sure ignition's OK ?
Does it stumble at all, or just crank and never turn over ?
