Default Ticking Sound in my ls1!!! PLEASE HELP

Ok iv got a ticking sound in my ls1 5.7 gen 3 v8 in my Holden SS Ute VU Series 2. It started off quiet and now its getting worse... it stays ticking when its hot aswell... and when you rev it and let off the accelerator it sounds like things are shaking back into place. Iv also noticed it backfires alot now when i chop down in gears and just let it slow down by itself. Starts spitting out the exhaust. I have lost no preformance in the power and driving of the car, but i am really worried about it... Please, all you experts out there, would yaz have a clue on what this is? Some people tell me lifters, others are piston slap, but i dont have a clue... Its not really a knocking sound, its a ticking sound thats getting louder... PLEASE HELP...

agree vid will be the best way for us to get what your saying.how is your oil pressure, where is the ticking coming from, have you checked for exhaust leaks, are you throwing any dummy lights, check engine etc, ticking all the time or just at start up, kinda need more detail about it shaking back into place, thats a new term for me lol, have you pulled the vc? checked springs ,rods etc?

remove your valve covers and check you rocker arms for excessive play . if there is enough miles on the valve train trunnion bearings can wear some or loose a needle bearing or two.

Could also be an exhaust leak coming from the header/exhaust manifold gasket. often sounds mechanical, but ends up being just an exhaust leak

That's exactly what an exhaust leak will sound like.
