Default Any FLP Header Gains Changing Y and Collector?

I know MTI does this mod,3" mandrel bent Y pipe and Flowmaster collector. The FLP Y pipe is 2.5" and has a small collector.

Any before and after dyno pulls out there? I wonder if it is worth the money to change.

If you are doing this for the track, then get the cutouts in the off road pipes. That is what I am doing. Basically they will just be header extension and provide good gains. Turndowns are available also. You can send in your off road pipes and they will convert them for you at a cheaper pirce.

A gain is dumping the Y collector and putting in a Flowmaster collector. For some reason FLP thinks there Y is good.It goes from 2 2 1/2 pipes merged down to a 2 1/4 then back to 3".There can be up to 10hp by changing this out.

I talked with East Side Performance (an LS1Tech sponsor - see box on right) and they told me they are running a custom FLP Y-pipe with great results over stock.

...their unit contains a restructive pipe after the header collector that increases scavaging because the down-wind gasses expand and pull out the exhaust gas in front of the header collector....this trick is used on all NASCAR headers...I also saw an article in this month's High Performance Pontiac (HPP) on the same topic...

...anyway I'm not sure of the size of their Y-pipe ...asume it is 2.75 diameter, but not sure...they claim great results, however...

Those are bad *** looking but at my track the exhaust must have a muffler.I use a Dynamax race bullet in the rear in place of my SLP Dual/Dual.

Dump the Y pipe, and have a new section of piping bent by a local exhaust shop. It should free up some power and change the exhaust tone slightly. Enjoy

I just ordered a Flowmaster Dual 2.5" in with a 3"out and a cut out,3" in and 3" out.I may be able to get a few runs in with the cut out open.

I will get it welded up and post some pics and results.

I thought that you have to have more distance from the end of the header for maximum gains, when running cut outs <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> If I were to get the cutouts in the offroad pipes, would I see a gain?

I went from a stock FLP y pipe to a custom 3" FLP ypipe with 3.5" FM collector.

http://www.fryrice.com/images/ypipe/DCP_0671.JPG

Gained ~3rwhp at peak but picked up more under the curve.

I made the same power with open headers and through the y-pipe and open Borla. Their y-pipe isn't pretty, but it isn't a restriction. If you want more exhaust flow get better/bigger headers, don't waste your time and money on the y-pipe.

I have the stock 2.5" flp y pipe and am wondering if there is any power to be had by getting a full 3" y w/ the flowmaster collector...

Header extensions are usually 12" or less. The cut outs in the off raod pipes should be worth 10rwhp that is according to FLP.
