Default How much can I mill?

2003 5.3 shortblock and am putting on 241 heads .051ish gaskets, would like to have 9.5:1 compression. Gonna be turbo on E85 and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how much you can mill a 241 and not run into problems with intake ports lining up. I have an LS1 intake. Thanks ahead of time.

I have my 241s milled down to 57cc chambers (somewhere around .040"). If I were you id just do a clean up mill on the heads and run a thinner head gasket to keep a tight quench, around a .040" gasket.

I'm cheap and bought the cheapest gaskets already. I have to get a cleanup mill anyway and I can get as much milled off as I want for the same price. You have an LS1 intake with that .040 mill?

Well I've been advised against milling on a FI application. If stock compression is 9.5:1 with 706 (61ish cc) chambers, what would 241 heads (67cc) make it?

Sould say "this time" we took .040" off....the heads had been milled before too, so not sure on my total mill, but the chambers were cc'ed at 57cc

Having intake alignment issues? I've heard that is common with milling over .040 but never done it myself.

This has fail written all over it.

Go to the forced induction section as you will get more answer due to your unique request to raise static compression on a FI motor on fuel that can be inconsistant.

- By trying to mill your shrinking your window of safety when it comes to tuning and survivability of the motor.

I'm not asking you, I'm asking the one who said he milled his head 10cc. I just had a set of heads done .045 and they milled the intake flange to compensate.

Not sure how a stock intake would fit on mine, but the Edelbrock dropped right down in place and bolted right up with no sealing issues
