Default 243 heads what cam?

i got a set of bone stock 243's and i want to install a nice mild cam.....
somthing good for high rpms since i like to drift and some time to time street racing!
looking for decent gas milage and nice sound!

FTI streetsweeper ht is a good one. 228 232 614 600 111+3.

+2 and +3 for the Street Sweeper High Torque cam. Ed's cams are next to none.

Stock block with stock 243's
I want a nice choppy idle good for daily and good for drifting

i was thinking this cam.................Texas Speed 224R 224/224 .581"/.581" Camshaft

would i have to get new pushrods or springs?
or stock rods and springs work?

Yeah, you'll need better valve springs and pushrods.
Futral F4 (226/226)would be a good option.

Both rods and springs. I want to go with the same 224 cam it's still mild but good enough power. I live in Cali and 224/224 with 114lsa will pass smog, anything higher will not pass.

also got my heads resurfaced today and now i need to figure out what size pushrods i need?

so what springs u guys recomend on the 224 cam?
not to expensive

if you want a TSP cam get the cam pkg,cam,springs,push rods.tell them how much the heads are milled and the will send the correct length push rods.thunder racing has good prices on cam pkgs also.another good cam for 243 heads is a EPS cam,or have Pat-G spec you a custom cam to meet you needs.

ask the shop that resurfaced your heads ,how much they did remove.

I personally like to see a split with a longer exhaust duration, but that's just my opinion...maybe something like a 224/230 .595/.595 112lsa.

I'd love to hear that 236/245 fire up . I had a 238/242 in my original ls1
