Default Cruise control inoperable with an SES light?

I just removed my AIR and EGR today, so my engine light is on until I get it turned off in a few weeks. I went to use my cruise today and it wouldn't work. Is that just because of the SES light or is there something else I now need to check for? Thanks.

Your cruise should still work fine, I've had mine out for months now and my cruise still works like a charm. I'd start looking for something else. Maybe you unintentionally disconnected something during removal and installation.

Anything dealing with traction control or ABS will make the cruise inop, so start looking for a lose plug/ cut wire

Well the car doesn't have TC so maybe I knocked something for the CC itself.

Well I figured it out, I thought the air pump was only for the air system, but it looks like it's also a part of the CC too. Plugged it back in and looped a hose on it and now the CC works again.

Air has nothing to do with the cruise. There is something else wrong with ur car. Air was thefirst thing i removed from my car and the cruise still works great 4 years later

i have deleted air, egr, abs and i have no problems with cruise control. hell i still have a a4 program in the computer and i have swapped to t56 and the cruise still works fine.

Traction control might be a problem because i believe that does control the cruise as there is only 1 cable on that system if i remember right.

Hmmm, that's odd. I guess I'll have to recheck the system again then. Seemed like that was the case though since the CC worked today after hooking the pump back up. I thought I traced the CC cable to the AIR pump area, guess I was wrong? I just picked up the car so I'm still learning the ins and outs of it. Also the car isn't equipped with TC from the factory. Anyways, perhaps it's time to find a shop manual!

the air pump is located near the cruise control box. but disconnecting that pump should in no way affect your cruise control at all.

Is the car a manual. I was having trouble with the ses light. Turned out it was my neutral switch by the clutch pedal. My cc was not working until I fixed that switch.

There is a switch by the brake pedal. Adjust it out by turning it till it contacts the stop. Had to do it on my car when the cruise stopped working

Yeah it's a 6 speed, thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that as well to make sure it's not loose or anything.
