Default I'm dumb so help a caveman out.

I know fox body mustangs and diesel trucks, but am still learning about my newest acquisition, a 2001 Trans am with an A4. My current mods are in my signature. I an looking to do a cam. A very close friend of mine is the infamous "spinmonster", and he said he can help me out with a cam and tuning, and I'm trying to find out my identification of my intake (ls1 or ls6). Anyways, what else do I need to do to hit 400-425 rwhp?

Looks like you have a good start
2001's come with an ls6 intake
A cam package from one of the sponsors here could get you to the 400 mark pretty easily

Ls6 intake, longtubes, cam, springs, pushrods, timing chain, oil pump, etc...id ditch the flowmaster for something less restrictive, maybe an ud pulley and a good tune and youll easily hit 400+ with a good sized cam

Nice car. Seems if the "infamous " spinmonster is your close friend, he would have your package all planned out. I agree with the above, since you do have an auto, a stall should be first. Then you can move on to heads and cam. Since your car already has an ls6 intake, should do heads and cam after stall. No sense go with a big dollar fast intake with stock heads, the ls6 intake is very good. If you can swing heads, cam, fast or hurricane intake at the same time, great.

What exactly are you looking to do with the car?

We discussed it a bit, he suggested we do a cam, and a convertor and tune it. When I spoke to him Sunday we hadn't discussed the goals for the car. One thing he was waiting for from me is verification on what intake I have.

look at a cam pkg from thunder racing or Texas Speed.if it has higher miles get new lifters and new oil pump.look at a ls2 timing chain also. the rpm of the converter you choose will help determine the cam you can install.I guess you have a 3.23 rear gear.look at a ported throttle body and a under drive pulley also.what muffler do you have ?consider a cut out .
