Gain of 50HP by changing rods. . . . was out tonight at Jagers shop. I can't say who but the DTS dyno is at a very reputable engine builders facility. A Pro Stock team changed out their rods to Jagers transformed rods and picked up 37 Peak HP, 50 HP at 6500, and an average of 40 somthing. . .now for the interesting part, the DTS will simulate the shiffting of gears. . .with the weight reduction the engine is 2tenths quicker between shift points. Reduction in gram weight was around 100 grams. per rod.

Maybe that's why Greg Anderson has been cleaning everyones clocks this year....well for the most part.
How much are his LS1 rods?
That is awesome gain. What was the total power output of that Pro Stock motor(NHRA or IHRA?)?

100 gms is a lot especially if the original rods were already about the lightest 1300 hp/10000 rpm rods out there. A PS engine probably accelerates at 3000+ rpm/second in the lower gears, so lower inertia would be helpful.
The ony PS engine builders I ever met in person wouldn't consider letting folks watch a dyno session or discuss power. Shoot, you can't even see their intake manifolds at the track for all the camo on them. So which team do you work for? And after they read you post you probably won't.
DTS is getting into lots of high end shops, both drag and roundy-round.

The process is expensive but if he get orders of 10 to 15 sets the price comes down considerably. It is a Pro Stock team but that is all I can say and no I don't work for them although most of the teams do run our oiling system. We were the first to come out with divider pans on dry sump stuff. Jager was not there but as with any cutting edge product you have to have feedback and that is what he got. Just thought I would pass it on.

Was not RWHP, this is flywheel engine stand stuff, old school as I was raised. If their is enough interest on these rods I can get with the boys at Texas Speed or Chris up at AD and help them or whoever with a multiset purchase.
Rods come with A-1 bolts, used by the Fuel teams. . .this is the type parts Jager uses.

It's just like when we came out with the compartment style dry sump pans that were "sealed", a few had them for a couple months then everybody in pro racing has them. I posted no names, no region, so the info stands as just a "gain" that someone has gotten. We have the prints for the 2007 engine as we are "consulting" but I have kept my mouth shut about "inovations".

This is a weird post, what does a Pro Stock engine have to do with our scene? My friend's brother crews a Pro Stock car and it never sees 6500 during a pass. I'm going to start a new LS1Tech award called "Least Relevant Announcement" LOL. Sorry to bust your ballz but I was looking at this P/S last week and the computer cost more than our engines.

The relevance is that they are using the same Jaeger rod that is avaliable to us, and in the case of P/S they saw an X hp increase. Less mass means more power and acceleration. That is relevant....

In the attempt to build HP for competition, racers are looking for an edge, that edge puts them out front. This info is cutting edge and I believe some of your subscribers have cars that might want that "edge". The rod is available for any engine combination as the tooling allows.
Some PS engines are 500 CID, Some are 800. Some see 6500 RPM, some pass right on buy it staging.
Hey, going fast is expensive. We had 2 pans go out a few months ago for $18K for the pair, the price you pay to be first.. . .and to sit on the pole.

Well my buddy says they shift their car at 9800 and that a good gain in a P/S is 5 hp not 35 hp must not have been much of a motor to begin with. Sounds like that guy is not using a pole position engine builder?
Last year my the car I was mentioning ran a Glidden engine that was doing around 1410-1420 on the engine dyno, what did this motor that you are talking about make on the dyno? This is a 500ci NHRA P/S motor. Upon seeing this thread my buddy commented "We ran a set of $10,000 carburetors we ran great rods too. If those guys picked up that much peak I bet they were making like 1375 on the engine dyno." Not trying to be a jerk but we were just talking about P/S last week for about five hours.
I have to agree with PSJ...the motor couldn't have been a player AND there is absouletly no way in hell that you can gain 50hp just from a rod change especially in a Pro Stock motor, they had to have made other changes to make that much more power...
and on the relevance issue, if these rods actually did make that much more power, why the hell would someone on here want them? they gotta be so damn light you have to change them every 10th pass....i doubt theres anyone here willing to pull the motor that often to change rods/bearings...
