Default PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 Heads and 228R 112 LSA installed successfully!

Talk about a job that I hope I don't ever have to do again, LOL! But its finished, I turned my 2002 Corvette over for the first time since I put the heads and cams and right from the get go I could tell she wasn't a fan of the extra air-flow. (Car tries to die with you drop the gas, almost behaves like a vacuum leak)

But the idle is there, you can definitely hear that little lope and dang it sounds mean! My car dynod 370 to the rear wheels with full exhaust and intake. I wonder what i'll see with the new cam, new heads, and 11:5-1 compression ratio.

This is job you wanna have patients with and take your time. Be prepared to sacrifice currency too. You spend 2,000 on a head and cam combo. Be prepared to have an additional 500 dollars on the side for all the unanticipated crap you will need. I went over the budget a tad, but I have piece of mind knowing my new LS2 rocker arm trays aren't gonna crack and spin a lifter. My comp cam rocker arm trunions aren't gonna have needle bearings fly out everywhere. My multilayer steel headgaskets are much stronger than graphite. My mellings high flow oil pump won't take a crap on me anytime soon. My LS7 lifters should be good for whatever abuse I give it. And last, but not least, my LS2 timing chain surely will not break on me.

So after you add the new GM headbolts and GM Crankpulley bolts, that is already 350 dollars there.

Sigh, now off to 42lbs injectors, bigger fuel pump, and a retune

Glad you got everything installed Cody! Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with, and let me know how she does once the tune in finished up.

Exactly, which means another set of GM head bolts and head gaskets at a minimum and a days worth of labor. When I did this job, I told myself that I would replace any and every weak link regardless of cost.

That meant new mellings high performance oil pump, new LS2 lifter trays, new LS7 lifters, new comp trunions, new steel layer head gaskets, new GM head bolts, new GM crank bolt, new LS2 timing chain. And so much careful checking and properly torquing each and every fastener to oem spec.

Congrats man! I remember doing my H/C/I/E on my C5 FRC and that was a lot of fun mixed with a lot of cussin' haha. It's one of those jobs where you appreciate it when it's done. Great job finishing everything up! Now get us a video so we can hear that beast!

At least your heads aren't under the dash....lol. I'd check fuel pressure before you go through the trouble of a fuel pump, I didn't need one.

Bump for Dyno day!!!

I did a 228R & PRC 2.5 5.3's TSP package on my old C5 in 2006. I'm very interested in seeing what those LS6 heads are going to put down.

Good luck today.

Thats what I'm talking about. How does that combo feel in the lower RPM range? .

I always felt my old C5 needed 3.90's to really get the most out of the 228R.
But, head choices are so much better now!!! Bang for the buck has really taken off.

My next mod will be 4:10's in my 02 M6 Z28 (lid & cat-back so far). I will de-clog and de-smog with a TSP head & cam package down the road.

I already have the 228r cam. I have been thinking about going with either PRC 2.5 5.3 heads or the 2.5 ls6 heads. I'm intersted in seeing how it does on the dyno.

It struggles not to spin the 315s with the converter I have. I can easily light up the tires rolling at 10-20 mph. I plan on doing a 3.73 gear soon.
