Default Idle and cam?

My h c i car has been stalling alot in the past few days. So I tightened the screw in the TB to raise the idle and it seemed to help the car alot and got rid of the cam surge/stalling. But the idle was to high so I backed off the screw a little. The surge was back but didnt seem to stall. Ended up throwing the "PO507 code Idle Speed Control System RPM Higher Than Expected"
Im having a hard time setting where the tb screw needs to be so the car dosent stall or have cam surge but this damn code poped up. Any advice?

Is the car tuned? I would assume not. Mine untuned wouldn't idle for anything. I just left it alone until it was tuned.

If it has already been tuned, you may have adjusted the set screw too much and may need to get it back to the tuner so that they can reset it and get your idle issues and iac counts corrected.

This is most likely what needs to happen.

A lot of times just a one time tune will not be enough to get the car's drivability correct.

Here at Tick when we do a full tune we don't just put your car on the rollers, make 3-4 pulls and get the WOT right and call it done, we will make as many pulls as needed to dial in the WOT cells, then we do steady state tuning on the dyno to replicate real world driving conditions. We also tune the idle, cold start and hot start. When we do this we ask that the customer leaves the vehicle with us for several days so we can do everything that is needed to have a solid tune all around.

We then take it out on the road after each round of changes is done each day and make sure the LTFT, STFT and VE error % are dialed in completely and are in the well accepted range for optimal fuel economy and to make sure that the car drives as best as possible.

Not knocking any other tuners or shops, but when it comes to tuning there is truly a wrong way and a right way.

I completely agree, you cant beat someone who knows what they are doing with the correct knowledge and experience to back it!

The size of the hole in the throttle blade most likely needs to be opened. I know on mine the hole in the blade is VERY small. If the screw will not get you enough adjustment without throwing the TPS or IAC out of wack, then slowly increase the size of the hole while checking IAC counts. LS engine like a IAC count between 20-30 after they have "settled" or warmed up and allowed to idle about three minutes. Always make sure before you make any adjustments to the screw the engine and Key is off. The ecu uses the TPS reference from key on engine off as the "base" value. Always make your adjustments with the key and engine off!

First try doing a tps relearn....key off unplug tps, turn key on and wait a few seconds, then turn key off and plug tps back in, finally turn key back on. You csn do the same for the iac motor

I agree with this to start with. Your TB should be fine, that is not the one I had an issue with.

Just to clarify I wasn't trying to say he got a bad tune or that his tuner didn't tune it right.

So, this is new to me, but you can adjust idling on the TB like an old carb'd motor?? I'm assuming that it shouldn't be done, but I've never even thought to look..

what are your IAC counts at idle? you cant just turn the tb screw the computer will try to readjust the iac to compensate for it......if its stalling on stops it needs more throttle follower.......id take it back to who tuned it and tell them to fix it
