Default Lifter issue - please help

I got done with my H/C/I swap (a few hundred miles since the swap) and i am having a lifter tick, (it gets loud not normal valvetrain noise) driver side on the back maybe 5 or 7. what really stumps me is the tick comes and goes it seams to be worse when the motor is warm, what can i do without taking off the head?

any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't see hardened pushrods, what lifters you're running, or a trunion or rocker upgrade in your list.

I had a tick like that with my YTs that was way high on the motor. I think it was slight interference with the valve cover, fixed by removing and reinstalling the cover and rockers for head torque.

I would think as the motor heats up and the head and block expands ,the distance between the rocker and the lifters grows resulting in less preload.maybe try a little longer push rod.

Gary is right, you lose about .008 in preload. But if you're using ls7 lifters that is nothing...unless you didn't measure well and were marginal to begin with.

I don't know, man... I had the EXACT same problem when I did my cam swap. It wouldn't make any noise on a cold start, but after a few minutes of warming up, it would start to tick. It ended up being a lifter on #7.

I'm having a similar issue. I've got alot of valvetrain "clatter". Looks like I need to invest in a pushrod length checker. I also used stock lifters and rockers. I really hope I don't have to change lifters. That means another set of bolts and gaskets.

What kind of oil are you running? You could try switching brands or maybe a straight 30 weight to see if that helps.
