sleeper... how far can you go?
okay well i have pretty much everything i want to do to my 02 ws6 done minus internal engine. i am throwing around the idea of building a sleeper car. so pretty much i wanna keep the 243's on her and the stock block. of course i am already currently looking into rotating assemblies and a gonna bore and stroke the bottom end. my real question is, how far can i go with the 243's? i have been looking into it and everyone posts the same thing. how far can you go with STOCK 243's. now i am talking about spending some serious money on these things, prolly more than a badass set of AFR's would cost new but it is what it is. also, how far could i go with them while keeping a "glimpse" of streetablility. its not gonna be a daily driver but i would like to take it out maybe one night a week for some fun. and the last question, what would be a ballpark figure for a shop to do these heads bc i have never done anything with heads and i figure the old CNC would be best. any suggestions on my little "cam only" car *cough cough*, would be greatly appreciated! thanks guys

you already cranking out 480/446??? im guessing that's with nitrous. plenty of people have had luck with ported 243's...did you put the 243's on there? im with thunderstruck here in saying they should be 241's on there unless someone swapped the heads or an LS6 longblock....
i've seen people with 383's...402's...408's running 243's...not super ideal but it show's you they are 'ok' for even more cubes...

well the cam and heads were done my the 1st owner of the car. i really have no idea what all he did with the heads and dont know the cam specs at all. no that tune was not on spray actually and the guys who tuned it were surprised too. then again, the 2nd owner, the one before me, had it tuned down but it was a terrible tune. of course i did the entire fuel system, all bolt ons and 102/102 setup so of course it increased quite a bit... the first owner was kind of weird though, he had headers xpipe, resonator and a cam but he didnt do anything else, but i gues he cleaned up the heads some. i wanna go all out though. i am not into tuning at all but what kinda of numbers could i see with a badass set of 243's?

hm...id say they're already pretty bad ***...those are good numbers....i did 450/408 with some tsp stage 1's...i got a smaller intake than you....
id say they have some work done....plenty actually....next step up in heads for you is aftermarket...afr/trickflow/tsp...something...

haha yeahh, that defeats the purpose though. i am trying to look more stockish... everyone knows what a built LS1 with heads can do... but everyone who spends the money to bore and stroke the bottom end usually upgrades the heads to trickflow, AFR, ect... i am trying to look and sound like a cam only car but surprise the **** outta people. even debated on going back to a 241 but eh haha. that and i might try to rework and hide the spray, but that is just bc i am an ******* haha

grind those letters off that fast intake and paint it flat black...i have the letters on mine and painted it with textured black paint...most dont even know its a fast....
as far as 243's....its a crapshoot....at least they say 243's...so people that know about them know they're just a stock head....
not sure what to tell you here....i say its mostly stock looking as is....obviously the fast intake and nitrous kit give it away...work on those for a more sleeper look....maybe get some fuel rail covers and put 'trans am' on them....
i think there are plenty of ways to make your car look less agressive under the hood without changing the heads....
even me looking at your avatar pic i can see the fast 102...nitrous...clear lid....just saying...243 heads dont stick out as much as someone would think...

haha yeah, this is kind of a new idea i have been throwing around and just made a final decision. i got a friend with a foxbody that built his car and looks very mild. like looking at parts and hearing it run i would say it was a high 13 second car at best and he gave me 4 lengths and killed me... sneaky *** mustang owner... he told me the car paid for itself in less than a month after the build. i hate the thought of making it look and sound slow but when it comes down to it, money is money haha. the lid and the minor coverups will come later it would be pretty amazing to be able to run a high 9 with a pretty stockish looking car though. we will see how it goes. i appreciate the help

Who the hell bets money against a fox mustang ever? hahaha that's like betting against a DSM without the major probability of it breaking mid race.
Those are two cars that are pretty common in terms of sleepers...i've seen foxes that looked and sounded like a stock one with a flowmaster muffler cut low 10s. Same with DSM's...they can surprise you.

maybe i will keep the subs in the trunk? good place for a bottle haha. either paint the braided lines or use something else? but of course i am gonna tape the "wires" going from the box to the "head unit" haha. disguising it in the engine bay is too easy with all the stock accessories i am still gonna run. i think i am gonna pass it off as a vacuum line. well i guess my nice pretty Gemini MAF plate will be up for sale soon. this is gonna get interesting haha. i will start a build thread when i get back from Afghanistan and see what i can do.
