Default Anyone have the GM CNCed LS6 heads?

GM makes a CNC'd version of hte LS6 heads . The retail is about 900 but my bubby is the parts manager and says he can get anything for close to cost. I was wondering if it would be worth it. I can maybe get them hand finished or just throw on the heads and LS6 cam for a psuedo Z06 package for now. I figure it would be a good sleeper and I can upgrade the cam later on when my warrenty runs out. What do guys thnk?

They work, and having the light weight valves is pretty cool.

It is not a requirement, but I suggest you spend time cleaning up the combustion chamber. The CNC leaves it a bit rough.

I just lapped the valves in and put them on my grand am cup cam setup. Sweat heads, You need to do some work to make the in take and coolant line fit. The knock sensor clips that hold the wire to the coolant line have to gotten rid of(if you have a LS1)

I thought I could just bolt these up? What other surprises should I expect? Can I hand finish the heads on my own? I don't really know how to go about it. My other alternative was to go with an Absolut/TEA/AFR set of heads. What do you guys think I should do? What are the differences between going this route than with a custom head porter. I thought these were the same just maybe not as great on the port design but I avoid a core charge. I figure if my buddy can hook me up then why not go with it. Thanks all

There are 2 types of the GMPP CNC LS6 heads.

88958622 have a .055 mill and reduce the chambers to 62 cc.
88958665 are not milled.

I think when you actually check the prices, you are going to find that dealer cost is going to be a little over $900 per head. I know that the milled heads retail for $1317 each. I installed a set of the milled CNC heads on a 02 Vette and they had LPE Serial #s stamped on them (Lingenfelter).

Your part numbers are flipped per SDPC2000.

I used a dremel and wire wheels to smooth out the rough spots in the CC. Grinding wheels and Al do not mix well. If you use a dremel, use the cheap dremel wire wheels as they last longer.

The milled heads take you to 11.2:1. That is supposed to be good for another 4-6 hp. You will need push rods .055 shorter than stock.

What are flow numbers like? Are they comparable to a Stage II job?

I think the 62cc are on the unmilled heads. For the longest time milled .055 was the only way you could buy them.

So what did you pay for yours? There seems to be some confusion, or at least I am now as to what the price is.

I think this is the best price on them even after you add shipping. Those prices are per head.

Cost to a dealership is like 922 for the lS6 so that is a cheap price compared to a retail one

I bought mine (#88958622) over a year ago and paid around $950 each. LPE charged me $930 for the valve and port work.

So 2830.00 for the heads finished. That's pricey. How much power did you pick up from these?

I would buy heads already done either from MTI, TEA, or Patriot. Also, you can buy others such as Absolute, Lingerf., etc. This way you get a complete package from one place who does respectable and reputable work. You can shop around for the best price for a quality product. good luck.....

Higher compression with a smaller chamber.
