Dailey driver heads/cam all the bolt ons car. It makes 452/418 and has 255,000 + miles on it. Runs great dont worry about your botton end. Just don't rev it to the moon. My cam peaks at 6200-6300 RPMs and I shift at 6500 RPMs.

Whats up y'all I'm having a hard time in deciding what head cam packages could get me in the 10s n/a I have a 2002 z28 all tubular suspension hotchkis springs, kyb struts, 9" Moser with 3.89 gears, slp longtubes and slp intake, it's a 6 speed with a ram dual disk clutch and a tick master cylinder. I tried to set everything up before I get into the engine I really don't want to fly cut pistons or get a different engine I just want this 346 to go fast. Thanks

Guys help me decide one more thing. Since the engine is out should I just hone and go back with stock pistons? Or go ahead with 347 forged pistons and not have to worry about it? I'm sure any forged piston will be good for the power I want if the stock pistons are. I made this thread so I could get some opinions from guys who were at the 430rwhp power level on stock bottom and feel better about doing it. But I didn't realize if you all knew the engine was out of the car. If y'all had it out would you go back with stock pistons or go to a forged 347 piston? Either way I'm re-using stock rods and crank. I was trying to avoid buying new pistons since it'd be around $800-$900 for pistons and machine work for the 347 pistons and would rather use that elsewhere in my build but if you guys would go with forged pistons if you had it out of the car then I may save up for another couple months and do that. Let me know and sorry for all the? 's

Well piston's would be nice.. But i wouldn't waste time and money installing stock rod's on them.. if your not doing anything crazy why bother..? Otherwise save, and get a set of rod's piston's.. and call it a day.. not one or the other.. both...

So you're saying either get pistons AND rods; or just stick with the stock bottom end and reinstall them?

Yeah I got ya. Hmm man I dont really know what to do. I mean this is a 4 pg thread of guys who are 430+ on stock bottom end and are running good, but I would also hate to go back with the stock bottom end and get on it one day and it destroy everything ya know? But I guess that is always a possibility with any setup. The engine had 63k miles on it when it was wrecked, so not a **** ton of miles BUT my friend did romp on it a good bit.

What would you do man? go new rods & pistons or just go back with stock parts? Seems like most guys dont really go through the trouble of rebuilding with stock parts since they already have it out. But my wallet is only so deep lol

Well.. It's a chance we take.. I made 16 passes the other day makin well over 430whp.. And not so much as a hiccup.. Your tune will be spot on you'll have no problems.. Start playing with power adders your risk rises.. But time is on your side so take some time save some duckets and do it once

Mine wont even see a track. The hardest Ill be on it is prolly a couple roll races a couple times a month. And this is not my daily driver. I have 2 other vehicles, this would just be a cruising/weekend fun car. Hell, I dont know what Ill do. The wife is already complaining about the money going into the go fast parts(cam/exhaust/etc) lol
