Default long crank 99-00 LQ4 with ls1 t56

okay so i bought a 2000 lq4 without realizing the cranks were longer on the 2000's also, i thought it was just the 99's that had the longer cranks, but anyway i have an ls1 t56 that i was going to put behind it, so what can i do , short of buying an 01-up 6.0 crank to make this work? also could i use a 5.3 crank or would it not be balanced correctly?

if the only solution to this problem is swapping to an 01-up 6.0 crank does anybody have one for sale? haha and when i swap the cranks do i have to replace the bearings? thanks for the help guys

I thought the spacer on the end of those cranks would come off with a little persuasion. If you were closer id trade you out but im in Oklahoma.

The long crank will not work with an ls1 t56. Your only options are:

1 Swap cranks
2 use an lt1 t56
3 swap input shafts on the t56

I machined one down once and it worked fine. It"s an easy job for a crank grinder.

I just read something about this in a car magizine. I believe they suggested using an 1/8 in scatter-shield. Idk if this would work for you or not.

i dont know if 1/8" would work because its not the same as .400", i wish i could find a .400" spacer for between the block and trans haha

and does anyone know how much it would cost to get the back of the crank ground down? and if i would have to rebalance the bottom end if i got it done?

Your best bet is to swap carnks. One thing nobody else has mentioned is the clutch. With that crank it's also going to be .400 closer to the tranny which is going to cause throw out bearing problems. That's going to be an obstacle you will have to overcome with the longer crank. Just swap it for a short one.
