Figured it out rockers werent adjusted right plus cam was exhaust stroke 180 the cam no ptv problems no more thanks to martin from tick for the email write up

Can you expand on the issue in more detail please? I'm doing a cam install and just want to make sure I don't repeat this issue...

Make sure its on compression stroke if lining up dot to dot the crank key would be @ the .1:30 position

Default bad plugs?? can some cause backfire?

bad plug cause backfire??

Ok just finished up my head cam build and the plugs I have in my cylinder head got wet from a soil didn't realize it until plugs were in the water can this cause you plugs to faul like almost all of them?? I put 3 plugs in cylinder 2 4 and 6 seemed like it wanted to run but died after 2 question

Can this cause your car to not run longer then 2 seconds

Can the water faul the plug

Lol this stupid phone wondering if my plugs were submerged in water for a couple mins would that foul my spark plug.. also would it make my car back fire

Did you try to keep it runing for a minute or 2?. The tune may be out far enough.My car acted bad for the first minute or so after cam swap. Some car start right up some dont.

Tried it won't stay running ... The car also been down for about 7 months you think the gas is bad enough to not keep it running Nd cause the backfire like that

I'm guessing you are saying cylinder 1 has to be in the compression stroke? If so, thanks...


As far as your ongoing issue....test for spark on every single then check to see if you are getting fuel and if fuel pressure is right on....

I'm getting fuel I'm changing plugs in the am the fuel I had in the car was sitting for 6 months I'm not sure if this is the problem but I tripled checked timing made sure it was on compression stoke lined dot to dot and getting back fire it runs about 3 seconds backfire the cut off

Check spark on each cylinder one by one....disconnect the fuel pump fuse and just crank it over and see if you have spark....the issue you are having sounds like when I had bad coils on one of my previous cars...

Last time we had a car that back fired through the intake at the shop it had a broken rocker arm at the push rod cup. This could also be caused by a broken spring or from fouled plugs and bad fuel.

Ok it has to be the plugs and fuel rockers are fine and prs if its not the fuel and plugs I have no clue what it could possibly be ill give you a call Monday if I haven't figured it out by then thanks again

Ok the fuel I pulled out was really yellow like a **** color the new was very clear I added lucus fuel and injector cleaner went to turn the car over and the battery is dead lol just my luck on the speed charger I will try back in 1 hour

Ok got her running I think it was bad gas plus plugs the gas I pulled out was yellow like pee new gas was clear I still have bad gas in there it runs fine at 900 rpm its still on stock tune idle is 500 it dies out and backfire when I let off gas I'm going to open my tb hole some I def need a tune
