Cam for my bolt on/stall ws6
I've searched around for a while now and I can't find a clear answer to my question I have a 02 ws6 with full bolt ons and a yank ss 3600 stall and u wanted to know what's a good cam for that stall? I really like TSP's 228R cam cam but don't know if it will work well with my stall? Also I want to know what supporting mods I will need for my cam...as if know I know I need
1. Ported oil pump (which one is good?)
2.timing chain(which one is good?)
3.pushrods (again, which ones?)
4.dyno tune(already have a shop to tune it)
And what else will I need for my cam install? I don't want to spend the money on things that aren't absolutely necessary but I won't hesitate to spend an extra few bucks if it means it gonna keep my engine safe....I don't wanna be cheap about it and regret it in the future! Any help/info is really appreciated I'm just about ready to buy my cam and supporting mods aswell just need the proper info! THANKS!

I have the 228r paired with yanks ss3600. IMO it's a great combo. The stall isn't too big to daily and when you want to go it really pulls. I had never ridden in a stalled car before doing mine, so i was worried at first about having such a high stall compared to stock. Now, I wouldn't drive a car that isn't stalled. haha. That cam makes good power. I made 390 on a dyno jet.

GOOD! So the 228R it is, ported ls6 oil pump, ls2 chain, and hardened pushrods, now is the lifters and lifter trays and the valve springs absolutely necessary? Because the kits tsp sells come with the cam valve springs(do I need the dual springs?) and hardened pushrods for $609 then I still need to buy the oil pump and chain??? So I just really wanna know I I need the springs, lifters and trays???

You definately need springs. I reused my stock lifters and trays but the lifters dident last that long after the cam swap. So now i put in ls7 lifter and ls2 trays. Keep in mind if you pull lifters that means pull the heads so you will also need gaskets and bolts or studs. Texas speed has great prices on gaskets and bolts. They should be able to take care of you.

Pewter T/A my car has 31k miles on it...so I don't think I would need the lifters an trays but would it be a good idea to spend he extra $200 on them???

EPS 226/234 113... has made 470rwhp with TFS 215s, and I've seen two other dynos at 460+rwhp with other heads. Cam is dead quiet due to its lobe profiles and it pulls cleanly to 6700 without floating the valves.
I'd stay away from the other cams mentioned. All are XE-R and are more aggressive than you need for a street car. Lobe technology has evolved a lot in the last 10 years when XE-Rs were the ****. Now they are outpowered by better lobes that are easier on the valvetrain, make less noise, and produce more power and better street manners.
Talk to Geoff@EPS (who uses the EPS lobes of course), Martin@Tick, Allan Futral (who uses his own Cammotion lobes with great success), or someone like Phil @ Advance Induction (who also uses his own lobes) to get the most out of the car.

Thanks for all the input fellas, however Desert how much hp did that vengeance cam make? And did you have some nice heads to go along with it or just the stock heads? I just want te am for the time being...next year ill probably throw some heads one there but not sure yet....
Jake I'm going to look into those EPS cams they sound like good stuff...although I'm not worried about the lobe situation....I'm kit to worried about a rough idle...I just use the car to drive to work and go out to the races a few times a month....I got my Rsx type s as a daily driver...how can I find more info on these eps cams?

It's not a rough idle. That's dictated by valve events and overlap. The lobe itself, if too aggressive, wears out springs, sounds like a sewing machine, and can cause valve float if your valvetrain isn't setup properly to support it (usually more expensive/lighter components to compensate).

The EPS cams sound like a good cam for a DD. What kind of power we talking about with lets say LS6 heads and intake? Got any idea what kind of quarter mile times this setup with a yank ss3600? I am also looking at this cam...the 228R...and the MS4...and VRX5. Thoughts on any? I bracket race on the weekends and wanna run on the edge of 11.5, so i dont have to get a cage installed.

I just got a 230/242 custom cam from Geoff! Its installed now with 243 heads but im carbed. I plan on finally cranking it up before the weekend so I will let you know what it runs like sometime Saturday evening. I have a 3000 stall and plan on upgrading that later on when I get more funds!!
And like you said, thats why I didnt choose an off the shelf cam. For an extra $25 there was nothing like having a cam just for you. Only downfall is the time on getting it vs the time getting an off the shelf cam! But Im a patient guy!!
