Default Stealth Cam advice

So I am looking for a cam that has very little chop. I want to daily drive the car and not worry about being bugged. I live in California after all.

What do you guys recommend ?

And who should I have grind the cam? EPS ?

The car is all stock right now but I will be putting on some AFR heads in a couple of months.

Thanks

Red face

Pm Martin @ TICK! He can setup you up with a custom grind that'd meet all the requirements you have. Tick also has several shelf cams you may like

Small cam in the teens with high lift (to take advantage of the soon-to-be AFR heads) will sound and drive pretty easy. Add in some soft EPS lobes and noone will notice for the most part.

I was thinking of getting EPS to grind me a custom cam.

Are they the top cam guys right now ?

There are several vendors having excellent cam grinds. EPS has propriatary
lobe profiles that are ground by Comp Cams. These like many are stout and
aggressive yet most report great valvetrain stability and quiet operation. I
run a very similar cam to this one here.....

Mine has a bit wider lobe separation which has a completely stock idle and
would pass emissions for you in CA

Something like the EPS 214/232 117 or one of the TR grinds (which Geoff did) would work. Most of them are in the 215/230 117 range.

The EPS 214/232 is a shelf part and has the EPS lobes.

Tick Performance: 218/230 117+2 cam that use the Comp Cams LXL lobes.
http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...1-ls6-engines/
Cam Motion: 218/228 116+4 #C33-697, it's listed as a blower cam, but it should also work good for your application.
Crane Cams: 216/224 115, you have a choice of 2 different lifts.

IMO, If you're going with AFR heads you won't need as much split. I think a 219/226 116+3 with LSL intake and LXL exhaust lobes will work good for you. It'll have -9.5* overlap so smog won't be a problem, and it should have a fairly smooth idle, an make some good power with the AFR heads.

Agreed.

I can even do a custom 221/225 .609"/.612" 116+2 which would work very well also. That or 221/226 .609"/.605" 116+2 would work very well too.
