Are you serious? You might be able to get away with lifters depending on our mileage, but springs and pushrods are not negotiable with a cam. They're a must. Don't cut corners unless you want your motor to be dead in a few hundred miles..

Hi all I'm a self confessed cam aficionado with my first LS1 doing my full homework as we do before I jump in and take a dive. I really want to see somebody's testimonial on the street heat stage 1 as I believe that is the cam for me. Surely someone has this cam installed ? I have been lurking here for a while on this forum before joining up but I can't find a razoo of info apart from the advertising claims....All the other grinds look way to big for my daily driver, stock stall A4 4dr sedan.....can anybody enlighten me please ?
I would prefer to specify you a custom camshaft that would meet your unique requirements.
Looking for recommendations. I was impressed with the knowledge you dropped in denmah's truck build thread a while back and told myself I would get a cam from Martin when the time comes. Well I just swapped a 5.3l into my '81 Volvo 245 wagon. Onto the specs:
- 2002? 5.3l
- 799 heads
- LS1 intake
- Hooker Cast Manifolds
- 2.5" exhaust through an x-pipe into a Cherry Bomb turbo dual in single 3" out
- T56
- 3.73 gears
- Vehicle weighs ~3200lb
I want something aggressive, but that will take daily driver duties in stride. I drive this car to work everyday. Not concerned with lope at idle, I would rather have a steady idle. Would like to see some solid gains though. Willing to put springs in, but don't want to have to worry about PTV clearance.
Thanks in advance! Hoping there is something off the shelf that will work.

I had a customer make nearly 400rwhp/380rwtq with this cam in a 370 with Patriot Performance heads and a stock LS6 intake through an unlocked converter.
He ran 7.60's in the 1/8th with tire spin and a baby cam!
It would work well in a 5.3 IMO for a hot street/strip DD vehicle.
I can make you a great deal on a cam package with Comp push rods, BTR Platinum springs and a SNS Stage 1 cam though.

Martin, if one had the LS1 SNS Stage 2 and they decided to swap it out for the SNS Stage 3, what would be the outcome? how much more power/tq would it add? CNC heads, fast 92/92, arh longtubes & ory, UD pulley. Only change would be going from the SNS Stage 2 to the Stage 3.

i know iv read it in here somewhere but i forgot what you recommended. what do you recommend for a m6 car with 4:10 gears and full bolt ons for now? later i would like to get some tfs as cast 220's with turned down ls3 valves and i fast 92. will a cam that works good for those heads still work good with bolt ons for now? this is a street car btw, will prolly never see a track again. also what cc should i mill the tfs 220's to?

SNS Stage 3 is a beast for sure.
The custom cam I mentioned to you is also extremely powerful as well.
Exactly what I would like to know as well. I'm looking to do a cam swap. I will more than likely have to PM/Email/Get a hold of you in some form to where we could talk about the specifics. I do love the torque the SNS has, I would love to keep that same agenda while being bigger and the 150 shot. (More of a track only cam for a while. So the biggest I could fit, even if flycutting is an option)

Thanks Martin for posting up and letting us know the power difference in the Stage 2 & 3. I am not real sure which I want to go with though..Stage 3 or the custom you mentioned in the pm. Going to chew on it for a bit. I am assuming they would drive almost identical, just more top end power with the custom cam?

Too much overlap.
Think of the pressure differentials in the intake port and exhaust port of a centrifugal blower. Then re-think your overlap figure.
227/247 115+5 is what I'd do for that set-up personally as a max effort camshaft. Honestly, a 227/243 116+6 would be perfect.
Your IVC is too late in that profile. Much too late. There is no gain going past 46 ABDC with a stock stroke and long runner intake unless you have stupid amounts of compression.
