Key factors to note: 99 auto, full exhaust...with 3.73s...4000stall and stock heads
What I'm looking for: A cam that has most of it powerband use down low to mid range....a nice mildly choppy idle...It has to be able to handle dd drivability..This will be my dd for 2 more years(summer only) than it'll be more of a weekend car.
This is a complete street car, I never track it or drag it. I will eventually get some quarter mile times but maybe once a year or so. Mostly a fking fun dd/street car.
What I don't want: 1...A cam that I wished I'd gone bigger on
2...A cam that I wished I'd gone smaller on.
3....If anything I'd want it to be on the slightly bigger side
With that being said I'm kinda leaning towards the 228r with 112lsa, The 230/230 111+2 el toro, and the Torquer v2 232/234 112lsa. Why??? Because their common from what I've read for my application. It's really hard even after reading the stickys to truly understand how to chose a cam.
What I need from you guys: Input, First hand experience with these cams
(or other comparable cams). Other cam suggestions for me with reasoning behind it. Don't forget..DD that will eventually be a weekend car.
This site has basically chose my whole mod list and I'm very happy with everything thus far.. thanks for any/all input

Well just for reference I have the Torquer V2 on a 112 LSA, and can tell you drivability is great! No surging or bucking down as low as 1500 rpm, great choppy idle, and a great overall powerband. Of course a lot of the sound and drivability come from the type of exhaust you have , and how good your tune is, but i'm sure I don't have to remind you of that

I probably will spec a cam. But Its nice to know everyone's experience with some of your common cams. For instance.....I've read a lot of reveiws about the 228r, but after 50plus threads, alot all say they could've went alittle more aggressive with their cam. I don't wanna be one of those guys. Once I have a better idea of how certain cams act...Then I'll have alittle more knowledge on "how to" spec out a cam. I feel the 224/224 or an alike combo is too small. I think the 228r is solid but I could go up one more notch without losing DD driveability.

I don't have first hand experience with the 228r cam, but I have seen it in action and it does perform no doubt.
Below are 3 of the cams I have gone through and my opinions on them.
221/221 on 112 LSA - great down low, poor up topend.
230/232 on 112 LSA - great down low, strong midrange, ok topend, very responsive.**
237/242 on 113 LSA - sluggish down low, ok midrange, crazy topend
Of course a w/4000 stall and 3:73s your low end pull will always be there at WOT.
However I would go custom if possible.

I had 3.73, circle D 4000 stall.. My car is exactly what yours is. Just a fun street car and be able to daily drive. The cam i had on it was the old MTI X1 230/227. I will say that this cam was so civil. It really drove like stock. I started it up and headed on out. I didn't have to warm it up or anything..
I can honestly say, I wish I could have gone slightly bigger. I think the torquer 2 is a perfect size cam. That would be the biggest cam I would run. Go with a proven off the shelf cam. No need for a custom when it's just a fun street car.

Ask Martin at tick to spec you one. I asked him to spec me out one for 400hp, through an auto, good driveability, and a choppy idle. He promptly speced me out a few options, and I'm currently waiting for it to show up! Great guy to deal with.

[QUOTE=Aaron@Texas-Speed;17036097]Torquer V2 would work very well for you in my opinion especially considering the mods you already have.[/QUOTE
The V2 doesn't give up too much low end..That's my only concern. I thought my 3.73s and 4000stall would help me out down low with this cam..I do like this cams profile though.

I went with 228R on 112 LSA based on the recommendation of Texas Speed. I plan to do some auto cross and strip, but my car is a daily street car. I didn't want any drive-ability issues.
You also have to consider what heads you are running and PTV clearance. I absolutely didn't want any PTV clearance issues.

If you decide to stick with the TRQ V2 I'd get it with a 114lsa since you run a 4k stall, or the 233/239 with a 113lsa. Another option is the Tick Performance Street Heat Stage 2, which I think would be your best bet.

Cam Motion #C33-719 ( 232(.595")/236(.595") 114lsa+4

I'm running the torquer v3 with a 3600, no problem. With your 4k stall, you won't have any issues with it. I live in the city too and drive ability is great. I personally wouldn't look under a 23x/23x duration. If I had to vote for a shelf cam, go with the torquer v3 (proven time and time again), or the new polluter v2 (Martin just posted results about a week ago).
