My concern is the blue loc-tite and how durable it will be in a hot petrochemical environment.

I'd a went with Ultra Black myself...

This is on the rocker arm bolts. GM recommends some kind of thread sealant when the bolt protrudes into the port.

I did Ultra Black on the front cover/oil pan/rear cover.

I used blue on my rocker arm bolts too, no problems two years later.

Good news then. I didn't know how resistant to oil the blue would be.

I used the ARP thread sealer on my heads. If I had to do it again though, it would be Ultra Black for the rocker arm holes.

I'm not real sure how well the blue seals against oil. I guess we'll find out.

Dropping the motor and trans into the car tomorrow. Probably will be next weekend before I fire her tho.

In the meantime, I modified the LS1 block for the 04+ LS6 Valley Cover.

Everything taped off with bags underneath (and yet a little bit of dust still got under it... but not down to the cam (thank GOD).

Cut off:

And the new valley cover test fit.

I guess it will be. I probably won't get it dyno tuned until January. But if I can fire it and put a few heat cycles on it with the tune Geoff provided me... then I'll be good to go in January.

The dust probably got down while pulling the tape and bags off. Looks like a pain to prep for, for sure.

Good Christmas gift. You'll be driving it to Geoff in January?

I'll trailer it over. I'll be in Louisiana for Christmas. I might just trailer it then if he's open... and my wife let's me with an SUV full of dogs and kids... LOL

And yes, the dust probably got down in there pulling all the tape off. I vacuumed what I could and was careful. It wasn't much. I just wiped it up with a paper towel. Since there's oil all down in there, that caught it and made it easy to wipe clean.

That would be an awesome feat IMO but if it was mine I would be happy with 470+ whp..which is very stout

I'll be offshore till New Year's Eve. I'll get to Geoff's though bc I need him to tune the Vette.

Let me know when you're going. Hell, I just want to be a bystander at this point man. Great work, no doubt.

I was in Laffy for Thanksgiving. But I knew you were offshore then too.

Powerwise? I don't think 500 is happening. Not with a big stall A4. And I'm very skeptical of 500 in a 346 anyway.

But anything over 450 would be good with the stall. Had I milled down for a little more compression, that might have helped a little bit. But I didn't want to cut the heads down too far. Limits me a little when I rebuild the bottom end down the road.

Pardon my memory... You went with a Cometic .040 right? Your quench will be better than mine right off the bat. Your cam is a lot bigger as well. A4 or not, I still see this making good numbers. Once the suspension is in place, I see track times to follow.

Btw, my MWC subframe connectors are for sale. I never got around to installing them. If you're interested...
