Finally pulling the trigger on parts!
Yep!
that or a LS3/7 stroker
If anything, I'd be spending 3X on the Vette... I'd have 15" Brembos all the way around with $8k forged HREs. And $5k Motons... etc.
And I wouldn't be any faster.
Although, I am looking at my next car already.
I have my eye on a 68 Camaro with a 622 Solid Roller Big Block in it... So that means I'd turn the Trans Am into my daily driver (and gear it more for handling than all out drag racing) and drag race the Camaro...

But I FINALLY got a chance to work on it some more. Got the rearend installed with all new stuff. I'm still debating the Viking coilovers or Koni shocks/BMR spring package. I figure the shocks and springs are easy enough to swap out. And once the rearend grenades, I'll just do this all over again.
Pics of the BMR PHB Relo kit (for the Kooks TDs which you can see somewhat in the pics), Founders 3-piece Poly Joint LCAs (I don't think I installed the poly joints right, have a question to Founders), the Founders adjustable PHB, and Founders LCA relo brackets. Nice stuff all around and went together without too much issues (sans the poly joints). I couldn't find the torque specs on the LCAs, PHB, or the PHB body mounts. So, I just did 75ft-lbs for everything, 65ft-lbs for the shocks and upper PHB mount to the body, 16ft-lbs for the swaybar end links. I jacked up the rear until the body moved off the jack stands to load the suspension and final torqued everything. Seems like that's adequate given everything has nylon lock nuts.

I still need to get the shifter linkage installed, all the sensors, and the cooling lines run. And of course filled with fluid. But it's in there and ready to go!

I'm down to Koni/BMR package or the Viking coilovers. Those vikings just look so good, and the price is right.
Btw, I got a Harbor Freight trans jack and it was awesome to use. Trans slid right into place in about 30 mins.
Also, I checked the depth on the converter, and I was at 1-1/16" of an inch, so I think that's right based on the numbers I've seen of 1.125" with variance of +/- .050" in the depth. It clicked three times. I didn't have my digital meter to check, it did the backstroke in the flood. But using a straight edge and a ruler, that's as close as I got. And I was around .150" of clearance converter to flexplate. So, I think it's good...
