Here's a thought, if your just wanting threaded coilovers up front then I'd go with the Ridetech SA HQ series threaded coilovers up front(spec the spring rate you want) and in the rear the Ridetech smooth body SA HQ series shocks in the factory location then the BMR or Hotchkis springs.

Go with the Viking setup. You won't be disappointed.

UMI has pushed Viking pretty hard, even for handling purposes. And I can get it 550/150 springs... hmm.

That might be true for drag racing, but for handling NO; there's better options available.

Your right. It's all about what you want to spend. Even for drag racing there are better options but I opted for the low budget shock that is still way better than the factory shocks. I have been very satisfied so far.

Test fit the Billet Specialty rims today... They fit but damn, they are gonna be tight.

Nevermind the donut (it's from my Nissan) or the princess scooter.

Well, I made my choice on the suspension... I promise to make a video of the car up and running. Hopefully by this weekend.

BMR DSL in place and somewhat adjusted and DSS 3.5" driveshaft in as well... I'll get the torque arm on next and then set the pinion angle and adjust the DSL as needed (and probably get some different washers that better cover the slotted holes).

I wanted something that would work all around pretty well, didn't cost too much, and would lower me down some without going too low.

And this is how I spent my Friday evening... btw, what is going on with that one shock mount? The rubber has something growing on it haha. I'm going to rent the spring compressor tomorrow and get the top bolts fully torqued and then install!

IIRC, you don't need a spring compressor to compress the BMR Springs, the difference in height will allow the nuts to be torqued to spec. If you were using stock springs you would have to use a spring compressor.

Make sure you align the shock mount correctly as it is difficult to rotate once torqued and have the adjustment section outward so you can adjust the shock when installed.

There's no way it's torqueing to spec with 550lbs pushing against it. Plus, the strut rod wants to rotate because of the force on it. I know people have done it but the official method is to compress the springs and torque without any spring force on the upper mount.

Yeah, you're right (I saw your other thread which jogged my memory), my buddy and I did use a spring compressor. Good thing I used IIRC to cover my incorrect post!

Yeah, the spring compressor made it a 20 min job. Aligning it... well I hope I got it right. It's impossible to turn now... lol.

Bolt is fully threaded and the mount is touching the huge washer on top of the shock.

I should probably make a thread in suspension as well for this... but the Koni dampers are on with the BMR springs... Also, impacts and air ratchets are your friend!

Love me some Koni's. They are great dampners.
