Well, not to play devils advocate but, if it was a factory rod that let go due to stress/fatigue ect, why aren't we talking about a factory warranty claim? I know why, because GM would laugh and say that the factory rod was never designed to be used in this sort of environment.

Now, from what I've experienced with my car over the past four years is kind of like the stock market. Past success or history is no gaurantee of future performance. What I mean is, just because everyone else has been able to re-use stock rods in all-bore setups, doesn't mean that your setup will be the same. Maybe the rod was weak to begin with, and with the abuse that a M6 puts on the entire drivetrain, maybe it let go.

Think of it this way.... I go and have a sponsor (any sponsor pick your favorite) and have them install a new cam with specs of 218/218 .525/.525 and they say that I should replace my valvesprings to be safe. But everyone online says the factory springs are good to 550 lift, but I end up breaking a spring and dropping a valve and trashing my motor..... Now who's fault is it?

I feel really bad for you, I really do and this is part of the reason why I am not eager to drag race anymore. Not because I can't afford to repair, but the enjoyment factor just isn't there anymore.

Take care and best of luck in resolving your troubles.

Not taking sides...I don't know either of you....but....

If he recommended you upgrade the rods and you declined(assuming that is what let go) then I wouldn't warranty it either. I will second the analogy of the stock valve springs...if you break a spring even after the shop recommended you upgrade, it's all on you. Considering the amount of money that was put into the motor, why wouldn't you upgrade? I'm not familiar with the shops that we are talking about so I can't speak to the history that obviously exists. I wish you the best of luck on whatever the outcome is.

It sounded like the rev-limiter was hit pretty hard at the top of first....maybe that pushed it over the edge...no idea. I'd just like to see what happened in the motor...

Like I said, not taking sides...just making a comment.

So what really broke? If it's not a rod, this will be fun.

The thing with this motor is this, JD offered to repair the motor to "make it right" initially as a warranty claim for JPR's motor.

EZSS paid 3200.00 to do this. Now we all know that 3200.00 is more than enough for an entire forged, balanced, machined shortblock. Eric already had the sleeves in the motor. He already had the crank so he should have needed maybe a hone, new pistons, and new rods for the rebuild.. Even with labor how does 3200.00 worth of repair ==== not getting forged rods ?? Keep in mind eric paid more than my entire forged 408 for his initial setup and I am using all Callies parts for my 408. Even if a stock Rod went in Erics motor he paid over 10k total for everything including "to make it right" at JD's. Why in the hell was a stock rod still left in the motor when over 10k was paid for that motor?

Hello,,, this whole thing is a scam,, those guys are banking a little too much cash for the services over there.

Just out of curiousity, and Im not trying to be an admin/mod/whatever, but when someone is banned are they allowed to come back on with a different name?

It's unfortunate that so many people have had difficulties with products from the JD/JPR camp. Sometimes I don't even feel like modding my car because I'm worried the products or company won't stand up to the level of performance/service I am used to giving my customers. Oh well...

I don't understand anything about a racing parts warranty. I sold Ford Motorsport parts for years, they carry no warranty what so ever. I've been racing for 35 years. Things break, manufacturing defects, driver error or abuse such as over revving, missing gears, and so on. I've broken a lot of stuff in my lifetime and never got anything covered by a warranty. Some of the best engine builders in the world such as Nascar teams ans top drag racers still have failures. Who warranties this stuff. As far as I'm concerned it's part of the hobby. If a stock axle broke would you feel someone ripped you off? If you're racing you need ALL of the BEST parts money can buy. Sometimes these parts will still fail but at least I gave it my best shot. Lorenzo is one of the top machinist in the Phila. area. He worked for a well known engine builder for over 20 years. He went out on his own now and has built hundred of engines. I have never heard anything bad about him. Ask any racer in this area. If my engine blows up tomorrow, oh well. Just my .02 on this subject. RAY

Thanks for that info. The last time I talked to JP (not JD, he is not involved) he told me the parts for my motor were at Lorenzo's. First time I had ever heard the name. Have no idea who he is or anything. He's good, huh?

The shop he used to work for is still in business for over 50 years in the Phila area. Frank Bash is the name. Here's my friends car that's been running his motors for 20 years. Lorenzo was his top man!!! RAY

11 Bravo,Not to scare u but from what I heard Lorenzo is NOT building your motor.
Lorenzo is a very good head porter.

But IMO the best engine builders around the Pa area...
Jenkins Performance (The name sez it all)
J&E Performance (VERY VERY GOOD)
Chase Machine

The work I have seen from Lorenzo's has all been top notch, 11 Bravo if they are building your motor you will be in great shape. I know you are nervous and all, but if Lorenzo is building the motor it should turn out great. They did the finish work on my heads on my 04 Silverado SS and they looked great and have been working flawlessly.
Yes, I though I did hear the car bang the limiter going into second as well, bummer...

Yeah, I wasn't told he was building it. Does anyone know how I can get ahold of Lorenzo?

11 bravo can you remove the lorenzo number for me? I don't need him deluged with bogus calls about motor projects from cars before that he may not have even have worked on, but for you to call him to check on your motor is cool and I am sure will not be a problem.
