Default Not happy with performance..

Well I just tore into my car. It's was a full bolt on, 3.42 gears, 98 Camaro.. I ran a 13.2 at 106 with a 2.00 60' on rear air shocks and stock suspension. And street tires

I then put a 224/228 .581/.588 on a 112lsa, a ported 90mm fast, 96mm throttle body, 42lb fic injectors, vig 3600 stall, Trans cooler, pac 1218 spring, 7.4 chrome moly pushrods. 50/50 drag shocks and LCAs in rear and toyo proxes tqs at 18 psi also pulled my egr and a/c. I got it tune by fast-motorsports in mchenry illinios. It put down 350rwhp and 320rwtq with the converter unlocked.. he could not get it to lock and i was cery disappointed with the dyno numbers but i know that dynk doesnt matter so i pushed that aside think track would tell the truth. Da had to be over 2000+ cause it was hot a humid when it got tuned.
Now at the track:
Da was 1700 and everyone there was spinning cause track prep sucked. But I still feel like I should have more left in it! My best pass was a 12.58 at 108.7 with a 1.76 60'.. My fast mph was 110.2.. I still feel like my car just has something not right. I feel like I should be trapping at least 111! So I'm really not happy. Does anyone have any ideas? On what I'm missing I realize my heads are crap being the 806s cause its a 98 but I still feel like something ant right.. Anyone have any ideas? Already put thread in drag racing result but didnt have any much action.

Take it out a few more times before you get too upset. If you can run 110 you will hit high 11,s to low 12,s. I dynoed 318 with the converter unlocked and ran 12.28 at 108.5 with boltons. You have more there, and are showing the hp.

The Vig verters are notoriously inefficient on top end.

Data log it, and make sure the tune, [or something else], is not FUBAR...

A. street tires with a converter
B. Vigs usually don't MPH as high as most but they do hit harder

That MPH still seems low even in that air. I would expect with a cammed and stalled A4 to be at least in the 113-114 range.

Ya I agree the mph even before the cam and stall seemed a little low I'd think it should have been trapping around 109-110 when it was just full bolt ons, assuming that included headers, full exhaust etc DA being appropriate of course.

The vig converters wont help trap speed any but again I think it was trapping low to start for a bolt on car. Maybe the op can give a time sheet to help out

Toyo Proxy TQs are drag radials. From what I've read from other members on here that have them, they hook pretty damn good.

OP mph is low though. Run it again in better DA weather, should be in the 113-114 range. Any headers on it? If so, it "should" trap about 115-116 with that FAST on it.

They are not DRs, they are road race tires.

They provide awesome traction... For a street tire.

A 555Rs hook better and even they are lacking. A 3600 VIG converter cam only car would blow them off, like OP did. That car should be 60' in the 1.6-1.7 range easily.

Yes it has slp 1 7/8 longtube equal length headers. The toyos are drag radial. And anyone just think its simply my heads holding me back that bad? I'm gonna call my tuner today and see if he notice anything irregular and didnt tell my for some stupid reason. I've read that the 806 heads have a small intake side so you need a reverse split cam like a 230/224. But still I wouldn't think I'd be trapping this low. Gotta say really disappointed. Just spent all my grad money on this dam thing and only gain 3 mph

I have read in many many places that the toyos hook better then the 555r at the track that is the reason I went with them

I must be thinking about the wrong ones then.

The 88mph pass isn't horrid but it isn't good either.

You should be 90-91mph in that weather roughly, maybe 92 or so but no higher.

You aren't THAT far off.

Get some traction and then go from there. Hard to judge cutting 2.0 short times.

No, you are thinking of the correct ones.

They are a road race tire though.

The sidewall is the main difference.

98 heads don't have to have a reverse split... Your exhaust probably doesn't flow well enough for a reverse split anyway, most don't.

In bad DA, take it to the track again during colder denser weather and your MPH will increase. If you still aren't happy, like PredatorZ stated earlier about the Vig, change it for one that will be more efficient on top end. I'm happy with the Yank and others are happy with Circle D.
