A little something about the Comp "R"s I learned...
Hell with their preload crap! I switched from the Comp shaft mounts rockers (used to get preload right) to the YTs because I didnt want the hassles or the spacers, adjusters, etc... and I just got some 7.350 pushrods and used NO shim (was 1/2 turn without) and now the engine idles 10 times smoother, 20 times less noise, and the car feels stronger. The exhaust is also no where near as loud either. Hell with the preload crap! I was a firm believer that they had a preload spec for a reason, but with their preload I had ALOT of problems with drivability and my dyno fell off a cliff @ ~5800... I mean went straight down
If you have Comp R lifters, use a small shim under the rockers or get one step smaller pushrods! Dont waste the money on adjustable rockers.

Same steup for me. I have HS rockers with .030 SVO shim and 7.35 PR. Dyno without shims had the HP fallingoff like a rock at 6400. After using the shims the dyno does not fall off at all up to 6800 where we wnded the pull. Car runs great.

You're saying that the lifters work better with more preload? Any guess as to how much preload you have with this setup?
I'm having the same thing with my car, power falling off drastically around 5500.

Right on thats what I have been trying to tell people from the begining. No need for adjustables period unless you have a Solid roller cam. The lifters need 1/8-1/4 turn preload. about .010-.015.
Steve you get the new cam combo going. Whats the dyno #?Have you got to the track yet?

I dynoed 375 355 on a Mustang Dyno. I was toldto add 20% to get dynojet numbers. The HP and TQ curve are flat as a board now. Just got the rear rebuilt and the CM driveshaft.
The Car is in ONE peice now and weather permitting I am taking it to an 1/8 mile track tomorrow. I hope to get to Byron next Saturday. I figure the 1/8 track will be good to sort out the extra 100+ RWHP. Gotta learn to drive again. I will post times if the weather holds.

i have comp r's,stock rockers and stock size pushrods. i did 1/2 turn preload and i have no problems at all,no noise and hp did'nt fall off hard till near 7,000rpm's.i never had any of the problems i hear about.i was told by LG the reason i had no problems is because of my stock rockers.(could be) i am switching to the g5x2 cam next weekend,i hope it all works good again.

Say stock is .060 (or so Ive read) and the cam has a .030 smaller base circle... thats .030 and the heads are milled ~.030 so add that back and its .060 and with the smaller pushrods (by .050) I would say ~.010 preload.
Somone correct me if Im wrong....

He told me the same, but with the amount of shim I would have to add to make it work, I was worried about the rockers hitting the covers.

The HS rockers are a peice of cake. The install is easy and there was no clearance issue at all for me even with a .030 shim. The one trick I did learn was to put a dab of grease in the rocker stand barrel to hold it to the stud. This made the install a lot easier as they go on in pairs. I could set them on the back cylinders with one hand.
