Default stroker bearing clearances, and torque specs

I am looking for info for putting together a Darton wet 427. What all devieates from a stock bottom end (I'm going off a Haynes manual)? Searching, I've found that mains should be at @ .0015 for 2-8 and #1 at .0011 because it takes the most load. Is this correct? Rods .002? Are any torque specs different? Anything other specifications I should know? I'm sure I'm missing some things. Also, what oil should I break it in with, and what to use after that?

Keep your mains between .002-.003, same goes for the rods.

If you are using ARP stuff...some of the torque specs change (in thier literature). Stock bolts stay the same. Make sure you go back and retorque head studs a couple times.

The old rules of .001" of clearance per inch of journal diameter is still the best dimension to follow...

Even when using the super thin racing oils like Royal Purple #9 we still see great oil pressure, no parasitic issues and great bearing life... On coated bearings that is..

put a different good oil pressure gage on (mechanical) and verify it isnt your existing stuff first.

If it is a clearance issue, I would use Kendall GT1 20W50 then...its good stuff and $2/qt. Mobil 1 is still pretty thin.

On alum block:
If you are street driving with weekend drags I would use .0012- .0020 on all mains. The rods at .0022- .0028 would be my preference.
If you are drag only you can open the mains based on cooler oil temps. If you have the main clearance at .0012 and you pull the car off a trailer, warm the water and "make a pass" you could damage bearings from to cold of oil.
On iron block:
You can run the mains at .002- .003. Thermal expansion wise the iron block is more stable and the clearance won't grow as much from heat. They are also less prone to having problems if you run them cold.
