You can debate heat soak all day. You can debate wich one flows better all day. I have found they all work pretty damn good. If you go aluminum or LS6, make sure you are getting the coolest intake charge possible and let it rip. When I used to tune my carb set ups you could crank the motor in Texas august heat and go inside for a glass of tea. When you came back outside the intake would be sweaty and cold as hell. I am not sure you will be able to get the same results with an LS intake but colder is definitely better. I would just go with what you find a good deal on. Most people think LS6 intakes are worth gold when they only cost $500 brand mew.

My problem with the Typhoon was its weight...BBK would be the same. The bottom comes off the Typhoon so its easy to port, 102mm TB fits, so with a big cam it has more potential in theory. For the money, a 4150/Super Vic is about the same though.

I would get an ls6 intake unless I found a BBK cheaper.

This is assuming there are no deals for a Fast out there...even a Fast 78mm.

Sorry I posted too quick, but anyway my buddy has the typhoon and when we go to the track after one run his intake is hot enough to fry an egg on whereas I can make multiple passes and can set my hand on the intake, it stays cool as the composite material doesn't hold heat. I had an argument on here before and others claimed that the hot intake doesn't transfer to the air charge, and while they have a valid point the intake is still radiating heat to other components in the engine bay...so long story short unless you get the aluminum intake professionally ported to flow the maximum amount of air the ls6 intake is the clear winner. The only upgrade to it in my opinion is the fast intake, which you might have to mortgage your house to buy lol.

Id look for a ls6 in the classifieds. My car had a weiand aluminum intake on it when I bought it and that thing held heat like crazy. I dont know if it affected performance or not but it weighs a ton more then the ls6. Plus some people have sealing issues/ vaccum leaks with the aluminum intakes.

I have the BBK and am happy with it. The only downside is it is heavy and a little bit hard to install by yourself because of the weight. Also, if you get one be sure to loctite the bottom cover bolts or they will come loose.

I'd be patient and stick around to pick up an LS6 intake. I run a ported LS6 intake and it does great. They are proven and reliable.

The bottom of the LS6 intake will be flat and the LS1 will have a hump.

12561184 (fbody ls6) or 12561182 (corvette ls6)
