Congrats on the Vette purchase...like Pred Z said; you'll continue to like
more and more things about the Vette. F bodies are badass for sure but the
Vette just does so many things so well. When the C5 first came out in 97 I
thought MEH !!! (thats not a real mouse motor)....boy was I an idiot. Over
time it just grew on me and the more I learn about this car/engine, the more
I wish I'd got one sooner. I'm sure Pred can attest that the C6 does every-
thing the C5 does...just a little better.

The C6 is even more refined.

Dr. You'll enjoy corners a little more now track days, drag strips, or just cruises. It can do what you want, and do it well.

I miss the pop headlights, I always perceived those as Vette trademark. So I got one of each, both modified. The C6 is faster as it has slightly more cubes and a bit more rpm range. Also the C6 tends to absorb high speed temps longer and better. The C5 lacks a bit of bay cooling and since mine is Supercharged well it needs cool down periods LOL.

Shame on me... Looking at the PTK twin turbo kits already... Lol

I thought about a fixed headlight conversion, but I'm not sold on them. I'd probably just buy another fix kit from Rodney Dickman for the gears, like I had to do on my Trans Am.

When your wife told you it would need to remain stock, was that more of a joke than anything serious? That's like taking an alcoholic on a tour of the Jack Daniels distillery and telling him, "now I know you can get all the free whiskey you can drink, but you can't have any".

In my personal experience in situations such as this both sides are serious at the time. What happens is that the male soon realizes he can not live this way despite his good intentions. Then, slowly, through skill and cunning he convinces the female that some things are either necessary or just one more little thing because of "insert BS reason here". Not sure if female believes all of this or just gives in because of lack of will to fight.

This is good analysis of the situation. First, Dave need to convince here, that the heads have to be swapped, b/c it'd be a waste to sell them with the c gaffer spending $$$ on them. Then, while getting them swapped over, convince her, that a cam from Ed Curtis is a must b/c it's only $400 and will add xxx horses. Not to mention, all this will be covered by the sale of the Camaro. Headers will take some convincing down the line, but when he finds a deal on the Vette forum, he'll have to jump on it, b/c if not it'll cost x number of dollars more down the line.

I see the progression, personally, I live it myself

True statements boys, all of them. Remember that video of the LS7 swapped Trans am that showed his clutch explode in front of the shop? I showed that video to my wife.

I had a monster premium kit at my door 4 days later

It'll take some time and convincing. But I want this build done right, the first time. Header choices (ARH vs Pfabt) which Halltech intake... Time and research!!

Well a very logical thing to say if you do end up swapping the heads is that it would be foolish not to put a cam in there at the same time. Going to have to tear half the motor apart and then maybe someday years down the road do it again? No babe, it just makes sense to do it all now. And then thats it.

When did that Monster 2 go in btw?

He was able to get the Monster by showing his wife a video of a guy with a LS7 swapped Trans Am blowing the **** out of his stock clutch. I'm sure the conversation went something like this: "See honey, now what if something like that happened to me on my way to work". "God forbid that happen to me and leave you without a husband and the children without their dad" (tear, tear).

She's actually the one that called Martin and got the ball rolling

I just keep buying things. My wife gave up.

She was pissed about the FLT Trans for a long time. Still is in fact.

Lol at "Still is in fact."

Luckily my wife knows that she doesnt really want to know what things cost. Bird is mostly stock, but def more things coming. She knows I have gears for it sitting in the garage, never asked how much. Locker in the truck blew a few weeks ago, bought 2 gearsets, a trutrac, install kits, differential girdle, etc.... She really has no idea what any of the stuff is and only asked if it was expensive. I said, yeah, a little but not too bad, but have to do what I have to do. The $1,400 dollar figure never actually came out of my mouth and she doesn't push it.

Of course what I "had" to do was replace the carrier and thats it, but if I'm going in there..... Upgrade time. The $1,400 dollar figure never actually came out of my mouth and she doesn't push it.

A good mentallity that I actually believe and tell her is... Let me worry about the money. Like literally be the one who is worried about it. Just do whatever you have to do, buy yourself whatever you need or want as long as it's reasonable, and if anyone loses sleep over things let it be me...... it's a good philosophy because we very rarely argue at all about money and it mainly comes up if there is a big purchase or something looming and I need to talk with her. Sorry -----

Man the last 6-7 posts had me pissing myself with laughter. Reminds me of
Dec 2010 when I told my wife that if I could just get this awesome car I'd be
in heaven. It's just what I want with the few small mods (Corsa CB and Z51
looking drilled/slotted rotors). After getting it I drove to emissions testing,
went home, and by mid January had the heads off and cam out. Mind you it
had 15,700 miles on it and I hadn't even put on a hundred. My wife promptly
said; and I quote " you're gonna **** it up". I really went Soooo mild on the
cam that she never even notices when she drives it except she says it's a bit
louder. Can't wait to see how you navigate this field of landmines......

Il help out on the research: Pfadt doesn't make C5 Headers, so ARH. I just bought, coated and installed mine a couple months back. They're great. And the Halltech is the intake to have IMO. The Vararam is popular for the C5, but I'm not a fan.

This is why 402. Or heck, come along with me on the 427/434 train! It only makes sense. I mean, if your going to upgrade, mines as well go all in. Right? Lol. Wives love this logic. At least mine does
