Default Anyone make "Drop in" forged piston/rods assys for 5.3?

In the import world it's pretty common for a company to sell a "Drop in" piston/rod/ring combo thats ready to go? Are no LS companies doing this? Seems like this woudl be a hot item if US DIY guys could just ball hone the cylinders and drop in the assy. and go to town.

Thanks

Thanks, I know they make the pistons. I'm looking for a complete piston/rod/ring package assembled and ready to drop in.

Try RACE engineering outta Florida. They could sell ya what you need and
should definitely hone/pin fit both the rods(bushings) and the pistons. The
aftermarket companies almost always have the clearances set tight at .0004"
I usually have that opened up to .0008"-.001".
Not sure if they can get the bobweight close enough for ya...might have to
rebalance the crank...assuming you're reusing the stock cast peice.

Thanks I'll give it a shot. Yup plan was to just ball hone the cyls and toss them in on the OEM crank. Not too concerned about having a balanced assy. Dont' plan to rev it very high, just boost the crap out of it.

Eh what? You're going to toss new rods and pistons on the stock crank and not have it balanced?

OMG say it ain’t so!

I’ve Done it many times before on many motors and ran a ton of boost through them at low RPM. The bone stock 5.3 I just went 9.0 in at 151 has mix and matched piston/rod assys in it. Assemblies were from a different year motor with different style pistons even. Run 35lbs of boost through my daily driver with oem crank, eagle rods, and weisco pistons (unbalanced). 26lbs through my GN motor with forged pistons and oem rods/crank(unbalanced). I’m not telling anyone else to do it, or saying its “correct”. It has worked well enough for me over the years though.

Most forged pistons for 3.9" bore are in the 410-420g range and stock is 434.

Pinned LS1 PM rods are 616g. Compstar and K1 Ultra Lite are equal to that weight.

So, it comes down to the piston weight difference in a 3.9" bore combo.

For a 5.3L, the bushed rods are 640g and I'm not sure on the piston.
