Default '04 5.3 Suburban wanting more power

I have the 5.3 in my 04 Suburban and want more power. I have upgraded the Mass Air Sensor with a Granatelli and attached a K&N Cold Air Intake. I'm looking to do exhaust and engine mods as well. Any suggestions on exhaust brand? What about engine mods?

Throw some longtube headers and depending if emisions arent bad a ory pipe. As for brands depends on what your looking for. Magnaflow is a good choice nice sound at wot but tame at idle and flows well. These ls based engines really respond well to a cam. That is the next mod I will do in my ls1. Full exhaust and a cam and you could hit 350 -380 rwhp no problem. im not sure how good the truck intake is in that model but a ls6 intake might be another mod to look into. When i replaced my ls1 intake to this noticble crispier acceleration. To start do full exhaust and if emisions is a issue get a catted y pipe. Good luck

engine mods are on hold as I attempt to upgrade the brakes. I am looking at swapping the stock 12"/13" for the 13"/13.5" brakes from a 2013 Suburban since I've upgraded to 20" wheels.

The Granatelli and K&N were money wasted anyway. and the LS6 intake recommendation is a poor idea too as at normal rpm levels it is like 2hp up on the intake you have.

What gears does it have? This will matter especially if going to heavier tires and brakes.

I think the biggest mod you could do is a nice stall. Exhaust helps and free mods too. But a stall will help the most.

Get a Comp 265 low lift cam and sell the POS MAF to some poor unsuspecting soul. No need for the actual brake upgrade, all that is needed is a hydraboost unit, brake pedal, and lines. The vacuum booster is the problem with the brakes.

Just a cam and a really good tune will get you what you're looking for. It'll feel like a 6.2.

We have a guy in town that tunes the ls stuff for us. This may help. He is in Benchley.
