Grind the bracket down or get ls1 accessories

There should be a post on ls1tech aoubt this. Anyway, U have to cut off the lower corner of the ALT bracket.

Just grab a longer bolt and more the idler to a lower position. I have a ls1 FAST90 on my PU.

Check out performance trucks .net n C if U can this info there.
If not I can snap a pic of mine 2maro morning.

Are you putting an LS in a 91 pickup as your screen name suggests?

If so I would try and use a truck intake as they are better than the LS1 intake. Truck intakes are EASY to find since trucks are plentiful and the engines are often used in retrofits but the intakes rarely clear in car applications.

Im running a car intake with truck accessories. You have to relocate the idler pulley below the alternator. I used the dirty dingo kit. Then you have to cut off the ears on the bracket so tb sensors clear. IIRC you need to run the car steam vent too.

Just to make things clear, the car intake clears cowls and hoods better BUT if you have room the truck intake is a better piece than the LS1 intake.

Car intake with truck accessories. If your alternator bracket is hitting the throttle body, you have to cut the corner off the bracket. The idler I had at the bottom isn't needed. I have long since removed it.

If you have room way up there for the alternator then there is room for the truck intake in most cases

Most of the testing I have seen suggests the idea that the truck intakes suck up top is just bullshit from the carguys who have to come up with an excuse to **** on it.

It is ugly that is true.
