I'm just curious if there is a hp/tq increase on a new motor as it breaks in over time. Anyone know? I'm not talking about the initial break in procedure, but more like 100's or 1000's of miles later. Reason I ask is because my buddy told me that he gained about 20 hp on the dyno (same dyno both runs) a few thousand miles later after his new shorblock with no other changes to the car.

Thank for the responses guys! Chevybaboy, I basically started the car for about 20 mins, giving it light throttle and whatnot, then took it for a really easy short drive, then changed the oil, and that was it. Oh I almost forgot to mention that I had a base tuned flashed for the car as well until I could get it to the dyno

Well it made 420 rwhp n/a, and around 500 rwhp on a 100 shot on a really stingy Mustang dyno and a brand new motor. From what I hear this combo should be good for 450-475 n/a and 530-550 rwhp on the nitrous on your average Dynojet dyno.
Not bad can't wait to see what I put down
