Default What Cylinder Heads for My Cam?

Well after about 4 months of having my cam I have realized it is time for even more power lol. I am looking to get a set of cylinder heads but am not really sure what to get. I do not want to spend a fortune, but I do not want to buy junk. I currently have a comp custom grind cam specs are- Intake- .614 lift on LSL lobes at 227 duration. Exhaust- .609 lift on LXL lobes at 230 duration. With a LSA of 111 with a +3 advance. I have full exhaust and will be getting a ls6 intake. Any advice on a set of heads would be appreciated!

I guess that depends on how much you want to spend. With that said i'm very happy with my PRC 5.3 heads for the money

I'm looking for the cheapest option, I want to spend less than 1000. But if I have to I will spend up to 1200. What kind of HP increase are you guys seeing with heads?

IIRC Texas Speed has these heads all done up for right around $1200. Obviously you can get them much cheaper used. As far as hp numbers from the heads alone, you are looking around a 40 hp gain or so

Those 5.3 heads might not be the best choice depending on how much piston to valve clearance you currently have. Just sayin.

I would send your stock heads to either advanced induction or total engine airflow. Stage 1 heads start out at roughly 1050. My tea stage 1 CNC with custom spec'd lunati springs setup per martin Smallwood according to my tick custom cam were 1175 shipped.

You could just slap on a set of unported 243 heads, they can be had for around $400. Although the gains won't be as high, but they'll still be pretty measurable.

PRC Stage 1 LS6 Heads would fall inline with your budget. I have seen a set do pretty well on a cammed auto car.

Or get a set of 243s and get a valve job on them.

Alright thanks, I will check the mentioned heads out. Sorry if I sound like a noob, but what is the difference between the 243 and 241 heads?

with the Texas Speed prc ported 5.3 head the can sink the valve deeper into the valve seat for more piston -valve clearance.the prc ls6 stage 1 head has smaller intake valves ,which helps with valve clearance .you can order with no or stock gm springs ,and swap in your current springs.mite get a deal with a christmas sale .

The best heads you can afford. On a NA engine, heads mean everything.

Texas Speed is out of 5.3 cores, so unless you find some for them to port, that's out.

I'd personally go with their 243's, stage 2.5.

If you want used, check here in the classifieds. Folks are dumping and upgrading everyday. You'd be surprised at the deals that can be had.

Do what I did and find a set of ported 243s for around 1000-1100 with springs. Sell your old ones for 150-200 and you got a set of ported heads for under 1g
