how much to forge my bottom end
I am looking in buidling my bottom end forged. What is a budget price? is there a kit available. and I do not want to buy a shortblock already assembled, I am not paying someone else to build a motor for me. I just need materials and around about how much the cost will be. I understand that the stock cranks are very strong and i wont need to change it

Even for a budget forged build, plan to spend $2500 or more just on the shortblock. Here is what I have wrapped up in mine:
Pistons/rings $650
Rods $500
Bearings $150
Gaskets $200
Machine Work $650
ARP Hardware $350
Timing Set $75
Oil Pump $150
That's $2,725 - not including the other things you will likely want to do at the same time.

i know all about machine work. but my question is for example on a ford engine or non ls1 chevy block you can have machine work done for much less. balancing included. is there something special about the ls1 blocks?

im not ready to buy yet just exploring my options. I wish someone had a kit made up already. I would call ape but dont they just sell assembled shortblocks. I am not paying anyone to build this motor, this will be built by me i just need the materials.
