Default Tick Performance Cam Install with updated Dyno Numbers!

Hey guys. This last week I installed my cam package from Tick Performance on my 99 Z28 and wanted to give you an update.

I purchased the entire Cam Kit from Tick Performance. It consisted of the..

SNS Torquemax Stage 2 cam 227/235 .613/.620 110+3
Brian Tooley Double Springs
Comp Hardened Pushrods
Ported LS6 oil pump
Timing Chain
Gaskets/New Bolt

I also bought a SLP 25% underdrive pulley off CL local.

It took me about 9-10 hours to complete with the help of a buddy and everything went very smooth. Started/fired right up on 1st turn and idled fine at around 800 when running the springs through a few heat cycles. This cam is BADASS. I just got it tuned today by Justin at Justune here in Kansas City, Mo. He does great work if anyone is looking for a tuner in the KC area.

The car has a lid, LT's, FM 4" merge/4" bullet/4"cutout reduced back to 3 inches over the axle. The car also has a stock TB and stock LS1 intake which is where my biggest power problem is. The car is a 6 speed and put down
347 HP and 354 TQ before the swap...after install and tuning I put down
394 HP and 384 TQ!

Thats a difference of 47 HP and 30 TQ! The driveablity is great, the lope is fantastic and the power curve is awesome! I cannot be happier with this car right now. With a better intake/tb I will be really starting to put down some good numbers.

Tick performance was fantastic to deal with, great Customer Service, fast shipping and Martin makes amazing cams. Justin at Justune has always treated me and all the other guys in the KC area right. Anyone thinking of going with a Tick cam..DO IT!

Ill try to get a video later of the car for you guys. LOVE IT!

Nice numbers! An intake and some heads in the future would make some strong numbers.

Damn good numbers for a stock TB and LS1 intake!

This is why I made the post I did the other day in my "New Cams from Tick Performance" thread about how a good 3" inlet 4" outlet Y merge, 4" I-pipe, 4" cut-out and 3" cat-back can make damn good HP/TQ figures.

Your car proves that perfectly.

FWIW we normally see a 15-25rwhp gain over a LS6 intake with a Fast 92/92. You would see even greater gains IMO.

Do you happen to have a copy of the dyno graph? I can get one from Justin if you don't.

IMO, good power with stock heads and LS1 intake !
IMO, if you can't swing the cost of a FAST92/92 a good intake option would be the BBK SSI.

I'm torn between the LS6 or the 92/92. I really want the 92 setup since I will be doing heads sometime in the future. Just need to find the right deal on a FAST setup!

Really good numbers! I made 404/382 with a LG Motorsports G5X3, except I didn't have an underdrive pulley, but I did have an ls6 intake with a ported stock throttle body.

I think this really comes to show that a bigger cam isn't always better. My 234/242 made less torque than your 227/235. For my next build I'm planning a Tick custom grind cam.

The OP's exhaust set-up is what makes the camshaft shine.

Any aftermarket camshaft with added overlap will benefit from the exhaust being fabricated in this fashion.

Scavenging is what makes overlap work for you.
