Default LQ4 into my SS

so I already got the block local junkyard ~190K 01' LQ4 for $600 bucks. he was sitting on it for awhile so he cut me a deal on price. well everything looks great on the inside and now its time add some goodies. here's what going in it.

swapping from ls1:
torquer v3 cam
btr .660 springs
timing chain
oil pump

New:
Ported Fast 102/102 setup
85mm Maf
42lb injectors
racetronix pump/hot wire kit
switching to a ls6 style pcv setup
stock 799 heads

as far as internals on the motor im staying with stock bore and stroke for this year. just a light hone on the cylinder walls. im looking at wiseco flat top pistons with there gfx rings. probly K1 or callies connecting rods.

now I would like to raise the compression somewhere around 11.5 or 12 to 1
(I want to stay on pump gas)so my question is which is better to do. Run a dome piston and get the right headgasket thickness to achieve this or...run a flat top piston and get the heads milled to get the desired compression ratio? any upsides or downsides to either way? everything with be held together with ARP bolts and either ls9 or cometic headgaskets.

any recommendations for rod/main bearing sets? clevite? king?

im hoping to make 500whp on motor and spray a 250 shot on top of it. as far as time goals. low 11's on motor and low 10's on spray. my ls1 made 407whp with a ls6 intake, 853 heads. stock throttle body, and stock compression. I cant see why 500 or more cant be had.

Just looking for overall tips, suggestions, from everyone. thanks!

I don't think you'll make 500whp with that cam and stock 799 heads, but it should still make good power. I'd guess closer to 430-450whp. For 500whp, I'd suggest a larger cam and having those 799's ported.

I'm starting a similar build and decided on Wiseco Pro Tru pistons. They have a 4cc dome and are meant for stock stroke and stock rods, but you can use an aftermarket rod with a .943" pin and 6.098" rod length. With the 64cc chambers and an LS9 head gasket, you're looking at about 11.6:1.

I've used Clevite, ACL, and Federal Mogul bearings and I think you'd be fine with any of those. There are differences, but nothinh I think that would be beneficial unless you were making a lot more power. FWIW, I have ACL's in my 6.2L.

500 rwhp isn't going to happen unless the dyno is messed up lol

I agree with kcs... my estimate is 440 rwhp. I would sell that fast intake/tb and heads/cam then invest in a ls3 top end. Be more power!!

not looking to switch top end to a ls3 style this year. hitting the 500 mark isn't a big deal either. so I was doing some calculations with compression. I figured 58cc head, flat top 3.2 cc piston, ls9 head gaskets comes out to 11.33 compression ratio. does that seem right? any recommendations for some replacement lifters. I would like to go with some link bar lifters and get rid of the lifter trays. ill be spinning the motor to atleast 7k so im looking for more stable valve train at high rpm.
