Default Bad idle, Missing and surging upon acceleration

I have a stock 35th Annv. 2002 SS. It has the cold air stock induction hood and is the high HP version of the setup (SLP package--Dual Duals). I got the car 5 mths ago and it is running weird. It was started but not driven very much. 17,000 miles. It has multiple cyl. misfires at idle and when accelerating feels like "something is holding it back" . Computer test and codes said MAF, replaced and did not help.

Help please--any ideas?https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/sm.../gr_cheers.gif

I would log a drive with a wideband O2 sensor. It sounds like a fueling problem but without data it could be a lot of things.

Driven that little, are you sure you don't have some bad gas in there or even a fuel filter needing replacement?

X2 on the fuel filter replacement.

It's also possible that the injectors have some varnish in them and are partially clogged. It also could be the plugs if the car has been started and ran for short periods of time in the past 12 years.

Do you have a scanner that shows fuel trims?

It could be several different things. Knowing what the fuel trims are doing will help out some.

Put a can of Seafoam in the tank or if you can find BG's Triple K fuel treatment, that stuff is the bees of knees.

I changed the plugs and wires when I got the car. Have now had a shop run injector cleaner through the system. They have ruled out the MAF, and injectors. Tested all O2, TPS, computer prog, etc. Think the plug wires are bad (even though new) putting in new plugs and stock wires next.

Uhhh.. I think there is a filter. Fuel goes through it. It gets clogged over time. Then fuel doesn't go through it. Did you change this and I missed that or do you not want to change the filter? Or am I just dense and F-body cars don't have fuel filters?

Sounds like a fueling/spark issue. The multiple misfire code could be from bad plugs from it running super rich at idle, fouling them over time. Take it to a reputable tuner to log the A/F while driving, see how lean you're running. It sounds like you might be pig rich at idle and then going very lean quickly. Without fuel it will feel like it's hesitating. Need to get the A/F locked in and it'll drive better.
