Appears the tech assumed it was the LS-1 from the traditional SBC instead of LS1 GenIII engine.

I do not believe there was ever a LS1 designation for a traditional Ed Cole first generation small block.

The Summit rep is an idiot and yet another reason to have an experienced engine shop on your side.

If you need help choosing pistons, the best source of accurate info is the piston maker. Don't get advice from places like Summit, just go to them with part numbers in hand.

why would you ask a summit salesperson what part you need? As paul said, just give them the part number and do your research somewhere reputable. That being said, summit racing has great customer service wether they know what parts you need or not.

The "LS1" was first introduced in 1997 in the corvette lineup as the new Gen III motor.

The "LT1" designation was used way back in the 70's and again in the 90's and now its being used for a 3rd time on the new Direct injection Gen V motors.

I agree. Summit has great customer service once you know what you need. They stock parts for everything so the sales people are not trained to be expert in all vehicles/motors. But they carry just about everything made. And are usually the cheapest or closest to cheapest.

I'd either find out exactly what you need from the manufacturer or work with an experienced LS shop to procure what you need if you need lots of parts and advice/guidance.

Why are you even asking him "stock ls1 pistons, in stock?" in the first place instead of vehicle specific question that he can look up easier. Outside of the LS world there is thousands of designators for engine codes and you expect him to know all of them as well as bore diameters off the top of his head.
