I've been following this thread since it started and I'm ready for mine to be in. This cam makes crazy good numbers. Im hoping for a little better since I went with the Stage 3. Martin is a pioneer in the LS world!

Would this cam be good in a 5.3 w/243 heads, 4l80e w/appropriate converter 9" with 3.70-3.90 gears and in a 3600lb full size truck? Possibly porting by a reputable porter. I want to build a nice N/A combo that could possibly get me into the 12s possibly high 11s.

That's a loaded question. Try emailing Martin. He has great customer service

hey martin, what's going to be the difference between the regular sns stg 2 and the torquemax stg 2? i'm kinda torn between the two, not real sure which way i should jump. car is going to be a stock bottom 6.0, mild ported 799's, ls6 intake, 1 7/8's, t56, 9", 4.11's. it will be my track pig and see lots of abuse.

This cam will need to be shifted at 6800-7000rpm for best performance on track and in racing situations. If you don't want to shift that high, I'd highly recommend the LS2 SNS Stage 2 231/235 .635/.610 111+2 as it only needs a 6600-6800rpm shift point for optimal performance.
Both cams will produce exceptional torque and HP curves with your 6.0, 799 headed LS6 intake combination.

How well would the ls1 sns stage 2 work in a carbed Lq9? Pretty much stock long block with vic jr, 3600 stall and 4.10 gears? I understand a custom spec cam would be better, however I can get a new sns stage 2 for a good price from a friend who has changed direction on his build. Not looking to turn the sbe over 6,600?

With it being a "track pig", having 4.11's and a 9", larger 6.0 liter engine and better 799 heads I'd be looking at the LS2 SNS Stage 3 camshaft. Specs on it are 237/242 .622/.592 111+3.

Resurrecting this thread. Anyone have new numbers or times? Mine is getting re dynoed next week because the last tuner at the shop pulled timing and never figured out the idle. Would have corrected it last year but the tranmission failed (due to incorrect tuning). Needless to say I've got a great shop manager now and he's working to right the problem. Ready to make some noise!

Looking for the info asked for above as well.
Also I'm wondering what length pushrods you guys used with your sns stage 2 regular cam on regular (untouched 241 heads)
I will be buying one later this week and wanted to know.

I was under the impression that the Torque Max Stage 2 needed at least a 3.73 gear in the rear and that's on Tick's website. It's the reason I was looking at the Stage 1. I'm surprised at how many have chimed in this thread with stock 3.42's and haven't had any major drivability issues.
It gives me hope with going with a bigger cam and keeping my stock 3.42 for now...

Tick SNS Stage 2 cam Version (Regular/Mild): Regular
Heads: Stock 853
Ported? If yes, by who?:
Chamber size: Stock
Head gasket: Stock
Flycut? if so, how much? If no, what was your clearance?:
Exhaust, intake mods: 1 3/4 LT, FAST 92/90MM TB, 85 MAF, 36# Injectors
Rear gears: 3.54
Rear (i.e 9", S60, 10 bolt etc) S60
Auto or manual trans: Auto, 3600 Stall
Dyno HP/TQ: 382/370, Dynojet
Type of dyno? (i.e. mustang, dynojet):
Track Times and Speed: N\A
I am very happy with this cam, it sounds great on idle and pulls very hard. Since I am a convertible, and street manners is what I cared about most, I didn't want a cam that would require me to wind it to 6800 RPM. This setup peaks at 6300 RPM and has a nice torque curve.

You can run the SNS Stage 2 with 3.42's as many have with good results.
As with anything when it comes to these cars, combination is key and having the proper rear gear set will really help keep the car in its power band. Especially with a 6 speed that will have a lot of RPM drop on the shift.

dissapointed dyno numbers
I have a sns stage 2 in my 5.7l 6speed aussie Holden monaro 1970 model.Today i had it tuned and it made 355rwhp which i thought was a bit low.It has a pulley ls6 style manifold 9inch 3.7 magnaflows billet throttle body motors done about 40000km.The tuner said the motor felt strong and thought the numbers were good.Surely a 9inch does'nt rob that much power but most of the dyno numbers on thi site for this cam claim 380-400rwhp whats the go.Are american dynos more generous than our aussie ones?I followed all recomendations from the tick web site BTR valve springs etc.Whats everyone think am i barking up the wrong tree or are the numbers ok.Cheers Mick
